Thanks Chris, I worried about piecing the back to be the exact same size of the quilt, but thought I almost had to. It worked out ok, I quilted all the oustside blocks to keep the edges even and then quilted the center block. I had forgotten that I had two block turned the wrong way in one of the quilts. I guess it is loved anyway.

Both of you quilts are amazing. I love scrappy and I love strings. It always amazes me how beautiful string quilts turn out based on the variety of fabrics used. Lovely work.

That is very striking. Wish I had enough 'lights' to do one like this.

Here it is with all the blocks done, now she is starting on the border star blocks as well.
The sun was shining in the window sorry about the bad pics.

I am calling this one scrappy. One I am working on I got this top at a resale shop for 20.00 needed finished. I thought it would be great practice and have something when i was done.

Mom said the strips were ripped not cut, I don't know anything of that method.

Here is one of my favorite scrappy quilts, Crab Apples by Bonnie Hunter. I've never posted a picture before, so I'm hoping it works.

Future Quilter--a fantastic star your mother is making--so vibrant!
sewplease--you got rid of alot of small squares. The red sashing sets the blocks off so well. Nicely done.
    Don't worry spider.

I pieced this last fall and it still hasn't gotten quilted. I would come home from work (teacher) and think I would do just one tree and then grade papers...but it never turned out that way. My poor students had to wait quite some time to get their work back, haha. The little squares finish at an inch and it actually went together very easily. This was the first Bonnie Hunter quilt I did from one of her books. When you cut up your scraps, it's amazing how fast those little pieces can accumulate. I find this kind of piecing very therapeutic. :-) Laura

I love them, I love and make scrapy Quilts. It seems that I end up with more material when I am done with a quilt than what I started with.

Love looking at all these quilts!

I've been wanting to make the 'strip twist' for quite some time. I saw it on Bonnie Hunter's site as well as the one similar to your 'donation quilt' ... I did do a top similar but still have not quilted it .. one of my flaws is that I love to make the tops and then jump to another quilt b4 finishing.

here is the one similar to yours .... http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...p-t129692.html

yup it has been 18 months, and still not done ... yikes, altho I did add a scrappy border.

This 'thread' is already up to 183 pages, so I'm not sure I'll add any more scrappy quilt pix, but enjoying looking at them sooooo much!

The twist strip is so interesting. I can't figure out how it looks like the blocks are in rows. And with only scraps, it's pretty amazing. I love it.
