If I were making the borders for that quilt, I would make them horizontal. It would bother me to no end if the vertical stripes weren't perfectly vertical - the stripe closest to the sewing edge would have to be the exact same width all the way around the quilt. So I'd solve that problem by making the border horizontal. JMHO.

I like the idea of a break, but I like the vertical...but I am OCD and the stripes would have to be straight so you might like the horizontal better.

Because the quilt is horizontal I think I prefer the vertical.

if you want real impact, cut fabric on the bias and your border will have diagonal strips...

I like the horizontal. Who cares what tradition says, we go with what looks best.

My vote is vertical because the striped fabric is so unique.

However, if it is not absolutely straight, IMHO, it would ruin the quilt.

Maybe you could just do missmatched borders! Either way, great...the bias cutting makes a super binding.
