For those of you who wonder about the Ribbon Weave design, it really is a Stack 'n' Whack and I found the directions in Stack 'n' Whackipedia, also by Bethany Reynolds who wrote the original S 'n' W book. It probably is the simplest one to make and it only requires four repeats of the fabric design.

That quilt is beautiful. Love the colors and stack and whack is my favorite, although I have not made one yet. I know the gs is very proud of this quilt

It is so much fun to see what kaleidoscope design will be made with the Stack 'n whack method. Guys especially love them. I made one for my grandson of tropical fish fabric with blues/orange/turquoise. He loves it. Your mom's is just beautiful and provides so many meaninful memories for your family as you continued its journey. What warm feelings for all of you.
