Still At A Loss

The first thing I would do it stabilize the sandwich by SITD on all the seams. Once that was done I would use my plastic sheet and dry erase markers to preview quilting designs for inside the sections.
You can make you own preview sheet by buying clear tablecloth plastic, use masking or painter's tape around all for sides and your ready. The tape on the edges is so you don't accidentally run off the edge of the plastic with the dry erase marker onto your quilt.

I found this site last week...they have patterns for hunter star that could give you some ideas. I haven't purchased from there (yet).

They're safety pin covers. They make it so much easier to pin a quilt (less strain on arthritic hands) and also make it easier to spot as you're quilting, especially with FMQ when you're backing up. Sometimes those silver pins can get lost in the quilting, but with offset colors it's easier to spot.

I am going to keep my eye on this thread. I have just started a Hunter Star quilt for my son and daughter-in-law and have been wondering how I would quilt it. Because it is a king size, I think I want to hand quilt it because it will be to much work getting it thru my sewing machine. I have had a couple of quilts LA and they came back beautiful, for me they were just to heavily quilted and made the quilt weigh too much.
