Omg what a treasure, can we see pictures of the details. It is absolutely ......... No word to say how great it is. I envy people that can do this, my hands won't let me do that. Anyway, I don't think my patience would hold out.

Thank you so much for your very nice comments. I'm very proud to say that the quilt won two ribbons in 1997 at the European Quilt Championships. This was such a surprise to me!

I just thought of a new game. Instead of counting jelly beans, hang a quilt and guess-a-mate how many stitches are in the quilt. Hint, take a 4", 6" or what ever that represents a typical quilting of the quilt. Count all stitches in that area and multiple by how ever many blocks fit the quilt to get a good guess of the number of stitches.

Isn't amazing how "quilting" can make such a beautiful quilt out of something so simple. This is great.

I agree with Harriet, I want to see the whole quilt! The quilting on the parts I can see is just beautiful!

Also from one hand quilter to another this is simply exquisite. Did you get the inspiration from the book "The Essential Quilter" by any chance? It reminds me a lot of a quilt in this book. This is a great reference book for hand quilters BTW.

Yes, you are right! Two of the patterns I've used (the feather in the golden strip and the cable in the brown one) are shown in that book on a navy and white strippy - but for the colors I was inspired by the red and golden one.
Barbara Chainey's book is the best I know regarding hand quilting.

As with all of your quilts, I'm in awe! My hand quilting leaves a lot to be desired next to yours! I know it's not a contest but it gives me something to work for. What a beautiful quilt!

I'm a hand quilter but I've never seen anything like your quilt. How long did it take to do the quilting. I don't think I would live long enough to do that much. It's absolutely gorgeous and I hope it's a keeper!!
