Why apologize about being creative? Love it!

I like the quilt & like others said, took me a minute to get my eyes to see the black as the symbol. I like the ideas of others: put an applique, or how about large buttons in the various colors of the squares? Would add a unique touch & break the eye away from seeing the symbol...which isn't really there...just an optical illusion.

I was like, gee what's wrong?

But oooooooohhhh.....

There are some quilting "mistakes" that are happy accidents. This may not be one of them.

People - please look closely at the pattern! All the black lines on her quilt intersect to make SWASTIKAS!!! you know - the Nazi symbol?! I'm sure this is not what she intended - hence the post. Still - even is it was unintentional I would not leave it as is. It may be misinterpreted if you display it or give it to someone.

If you have enough of the black and the white left, I would applique a white square on point on the black intersections, and a black square on point on the white intersections. Reason for the black on white would be to disguise the fact that you are "changing" something.

Oh you poor dear - sounds like something I would do! I agree with the others, no benefit to advertising something you don't believe in! Good fixes have already been suggested. Other than that, it's a comfortable and lovely quilt. Too much work to abandon it now!

Worth mentioning that swastikas were an ancient geometric symbol found in many cultures, including Bon, the predecessor to Tibetan Buddhism and pharonic Egypt before the Nazis adopted it? All kinds of symbols have been used by evildoers, but it shouldn't demonize basic shapes for all time. I do see how it could be misinterpreted, given the sensitivity, so how bout some appliqué at the corners? I mean, don't take it apart, just camo and move on. Colors are great.

Most people would not even notice if not pointed out, took me several looks. It is a beautiful quilt! Do what YOUR heart tells you to do and don't worry about what someone else might think. Have a GREAT holiday!! Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, All that good stuff! :)
