    barri1, can't imagine how unsettling this was for the elderly, losing their households. I'm glad your home was spared.

    Thanks for your comments, everyone. They also need pillowcases, so I might try to make a batch of them too. We all have fabrics we aren't going to use in our stash. I figure, 'Why not put them to good use?'

    I don't use patterns. I cut pink squares 8"... and the bright colored ones were cut 8.5". I stacked the brights and cut vertically and horizontally, off center, cutting the stack into 4 smaller rectangles. Then I mixed them up and sewed them back together, making them 8" like the pinks. Then I laid them out as you see them. I quilted on either side of the block seams, and quilted big flowers in the centers of the pinks. Hope that helps you figure out how to do it.
