Well, it is a little strange, I have to agree with you. I would not exactly call it ugly though.

It will make a wonderful "get down on the floor play quilt". Looks like it was made just for that purpose! Give it and I am sure the Mom will enjoy having it and baby will to!!

Not just saying this to be nice... I really like it. The toned-down colours make it seem extra cozy. and its not too childis, which means they can use it for years and years to come.

give it ! The mom will like it as I do. You put time in it and the baby will love to curl up in it. I bet this baby will be draging it around for a long time. It will be a hit.

I love it! And the baby will too! I personally am not a fan of pastels and love things that r unique! I would have loved to receive such a wonderful gift for either of my sons!

If you are still wavering after reading the encouraging comments here, how about waiting one year until the baby is older and crawling on the floor. The colors will be more appropriate for a toddler. You could give a pastel baby quilt for the birth gift. With more time to re-think the quilt you've shown here, you might want to make a small revision, such as giving it a Red binding, or satin blanket binding, or such to brighten it a bit.
