You're right about getting a bargain! I like the idea of a solid for the binding. You could go with a small print for the backing or muslin. They are beautiful!

Fantastic buy! That last quilt must have been a work of pure love as it looks like it is hand stitched? Congratulations on a worthwhile investment/collection. They are all beautiful!

Is that what the back of your quilt tops look like? Mine show sewing stitches from the machine, and little knots and thread cuts' tails. Not to mention little ironing errors and the occasional time the machine gobbled up a seam which should have lain flat.
uh-oh...this hiding of thread was not in the 1980 quilt book and not in the 2010 quilt book I go by as a newbie.
Please advise before I sail along and make more mistakes!
Thanks
Sue
Hi Sue!

Your post made me giggle! Oh yes, there are threads, but there are so many tiny diamonds sewn together! Also, the way the seams are laying seem to camoflauge the threads. I am a newbie too, I've only been making quilt tops since last since last August or September. I am in love with the art! Anyway...keep sailing!

Someone spent a lot of time and love creating these. I think a muslin backing would be a wise choice. Maybe pick any color for the binding thats in the top. Maybe a tan to brown on the orange one. That period had a lovely she of green. Whoever the lady was she would be proud that you are seeing them finished and used.

However, I wanted you all to take a look at these little beauties and tell me what you think.

Also, would you back them with a simple muslin and bind with a solid color?
I can not believe you got the third one for anything under a couple hundred dollars. stains or no stains.
