I think your quilt is beautiful, and the 5" border looks fine to me. It will be pretty no matter which way you go with it, but personally, I wouldn't change it

It looks just like it should be. I think the wider border brings it all together. Great job.

[What is the name of the pattern and where can I find it? JennyQUOTE=moreland;5324671]I just finished this top for my youngest daughter's wedding gift. She and her fiance saw the fabrics in my grandson's grad quilt and fell in love with them. I was glad the LQS still had them in stock! It is not truly a "thinking outside the block" because the "blocks" have sidewalks :>. It is not what I had envisioned but several have said it is fine as it is. I hope the kids think so, too.
Right now the border is 5 inches wide. I'm contemplating making it a bit narrower. What do you all think?[/QUOTE]

It's a wonderful quilt. I prefer your sized border rather than skinny and would bind with the darker red fabric to tie it in.

Yes, I do plan a darker binding. I showed the top to the couple yesterday and they seemed very happy with it.

For those who asked, I believe a pattern is available. It is called "thinking outside the box" however, since you simply used the same block over and over, it is pretty easy to look at a picture and figure the quilt out.

I agree with Helen, leave the border as is and use a darker fabric to bind.

Love it just the way it is, but would use a darker fabric (maybe the sashing fabric) for binding to finish off the quilt. They will love the quilt! Modern enough for the younger folks...
