Congratulations. Your new friend will sew a beautiful seam for you. Listen to how quiet she runs. Beautifully done.

Great job! Did you use the kerosene? I have a 1924 White Brand that I need to tackle.

It was a lot of work and hubby thought I would never get her back together. He is not mechanicly minded at all but great at refinishing wood. She does sew but something is not quite right with tension. Not sure whether it needs tension adjustment or I need more lessons on a treadle :)

What did you use to clean all of the rust and grime?

I did use kerosene on it but I tried to be careful as it did silver some of the decals. It took a lot of scrubbing though, I used a lot of goop hand cleaner.

I soaked the metal parts in kerosene and it really did not do much and I was reading on the internet about getting rust off of metal and someone said they used Coke. I tried that and it worked better than anything else!
