Last year when my Dh and I drove to Texas we passed cotton fields and at first didn't realize what we were looking at.when we saw white fluffy stuff along the roadside, it dawned on us we were looking at cotton fields. It would be really neat to see the process in making cotton fabric.

We have cotton fields here but would of loved to seen that. I think that is really neat and would be wonderful to see in person. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much for these pictures. Yes, my DH and I drove to Paducah to see our youngest DD (yes, she lives in a GREAT quilting mecca) and we went through lots of crop land in the bottom part of MO and I saw this white stuff in the fields and DH said that it was cotton - so I MADE him get off the highway and find a dirt road and actually got out of the car and touched some cotton right on the plants.

O.K. Loved the pictures. If we grow cotton here in the US why don't we produce fabric? When we were in France we saw the unbleached fabric coming in to a manufacturer, then made into usable fabric. If I'm not mistaken the raw material was coming in from India. What do we do with the cotton after it is grown and cleaned? Not trying to start anythng but seems like if we can grow it we could make material. It irks me no end to think that we in the US don't make anything anymore. Oh gosh, here I am ranting. I better get a cup of coffee. Sorry.
