I went thrift store shopping in our hill country. I stopped at a thrift store in Comfort, Texas and found this. I only paid $2.50
It is made out of wool bak and front and has those fabulous stiches. I need to sew where it was cut so it will stopraveling. I love the colors. i will probably use as a lap quilt for myself. I love it!!! a full shot of it close up of the blocks and stiching where it was cut. |

Oh, you are so lucky! I am allergic to wool.......

Great find. I think I'd add a binding all around to secure the edge,

Great fine.

Great find there. My grandmother made wool quilts (anything she could find went into quilts) & they were so warm. Enjoy! I lived in San Antonio for 2 yrs & we went to a flea market every Sunday for awhile. Nice areas to shop there North, going toward Austin (back in early 80s).

What a great find! Is the blocks stitched together, then the embroidery done or it the embroidery stitches all that is holding it together?
Only once did I find such a great bargain. I was in a antique shop and saw some crochet peeking out from under something else. I could see that it was the pineapple pattern. Much to my surprise when I got it out and looked at it....it was a 70 inch round tablecloth! the price was $5.95 |
How lucky you are!
