What are we doing wrong to cause the decrease in the number of postings, especially in the recent topics area?

When I joined in 2011 there were around 20 pages of postings in the recent topics area every day. Now there only
around 10 on a daily basis.

Are we including things that really don't deal with quilting? Are there topics that we should be including that aren't.
    Are we just boring?

Does anyone have constructive ideas for getting the number of postings up instead of down?

I would like to keep a good thing going instead of losing it.

It's Summertime! I've always noticed a drop off in postings during the summer months and holidays. It will pick back up when the colder weather sets in!

Life gets busy for a lot of us in the summer. I have also noticed that some interesting posts get pulled off the site rather quickly. A couple of poster that I really enjoyed seeing their work, have not been back after that.

I'm inserting my comments, with each of yours ............

When I joined in 2011 there were around 20 pages of postings in the recent topics area every day. Now there only
around 10 on a daily basis. Does the number really matter? Perhaps it's more important to see Quality, than Quantity?

Are we including things that really don't deal with quilting? Yes, there are some, and no one forces anyone to look at the non-quilting topics.

Are there topics that we should be including that aren't. That can happen easy enough ... start a new thread! And if it should not meet with the Board standards/rules it will be deleted.

Are we just boring? Far from boring! I've yet to find the QB boring.

Does anyone have constructive ideas for getting the number of postings up instead of down? .PARTICIPATE!!!!! Perhaps start with yourself ... it seems that since you joined two years ago, you only have posted 82 times! If everyone LURKED as much as you appear to be doing, then there would be even fewer posts and the Boards would be even quieter. And yes, they probably would become boring!!

I would like to keep a good thing going instead of losing it. The Quilting Board is a wonderful Community. I really don't feel your complaints have any justification. I have gained SO much in the two years that I have been part of this group. However, that has probably only been, because I have taken and active role and participated. I have learned SO much, and have improved as a quilter ever SO, with MANY THANKS to many wonderful people.

Wow! There is always something new right after I read a post. Sometimes I comment sometimes I don't. I am never bored with this forum. I don't post much but that's because so many questions have already been answered or posted. This forum/QB is the best site I've ever been on. I am in awe of everyone on this board. I have bookmarked/added to my favorites nearly everyday. People with school children and families who vacation in the summer will not be seen on the board as much. The only constructive way to get posting up is to wait until everyone comes back from vacation. Don't believe this board is going to go away soon. At least not in my lifetime or as long as there are quilter/sewers/embroiderer/seamstresses. Newbies are introducing themselves everyday. Also look at it this way, fewer posts to read will help you get that project closer to finishing. If I get up in the middle of the night to take care of some personal business and can't get back to sleep, I check out the QB and save a quick tip to my favorites.

I've noticed a reduction (it seems), and I've tho't it is because a number of people left for other quilt forums--back a yr or two ago when this site changed it's format. I remember people being upset because they had difficulty navigating around the site. It was not as easy as the old format, but we've quickly learned how to get about--and now it seems like it's always been this way. Except for some folks having difficulty loading pix. I think sometimes we just get "set in our ways" and can't abide change. I love this board and have not found another to quite compare.

I for one do not log into this site as often as I used too. One of the reasons, there are way TOO many topics that do not relate to quilting. If you want to do work games, recipes, etc. that is fine, but I don't think they are appropriate in the quilting main page.

If this is a problem ... then use the "Archive" as your entry point to the QB (see bottom of this page. It will sort things out for you according to the Forum they are posted and let you go straight to the sort of posts you want to see. That way you won't need to let the recipes etc. distract you
