I just don't have the time to spend. I like to go to certain areas and look it over to see if there is anything to catch my eye. I also do the monthly swap. Even though I am here almost everyday I don't always post. I like to read what others post and so on. Which makes me a junior, which even though I have been on the site, prevents me to even ask for donations, etc. I think there are a lot of people who like me don't have a lot to say. But I appreciate the ones that do.

Hi there. When I logged on and checked main, the first thread was "Introduce Yourself" and should be moved to that forum page. By moving threads that don't belong on Main, it'd make it easier to navigate main.

Catjo.....Being a Junior is OK. Since you don't have much time, what forums do you like to look over, what subjects do you like to read about and why? You're Avatar is pretty. Did you make it?

I would like to get advice on machine quilting on my DM but haven't found where I can ask dumb questions and maybe talk to someone who, like me, doesn't have access to a long arm. how do I go about finding someone with experience quilting onDM and what techniques do you like best? Is it possible to quilt an entire kingsize quilt on my DM?

If this was me, I would post this in the Main section and title my post something like "? about machine quilting on DSM". Then people would know what you were needing. I don't quilt on my DSM, so I wouldn't look at this thread, but others who are knowledgeable could read your question and give advice/input. I've seen some amazing quilts here done on DSM. I think many people use a DSM. Good luck getting your answers!

Thread titles that indicate what the topic is actually about are helpful.

Examples: "I'm getting bird nests while FMQ on my DSM" is a better indicator of what is to follow than "Help"

"I won a blue ribbon at the state fair for my king-sized quilt" is a better indicator than "Guess what?!?

"T-shirt quilt for niece" is better than "Another one finished"

Cllue words are helpful when one is trying to do a search!!

I think you-all get the idea.

The QB is free and it is the friendliest, most prolific quilting site I've found on the web. There will be no complaints from me about how the admins and moderators organize and manage the board.

I do think Bearisgray is right about thread titles. Posters would be doing everyone a favor by having more descriptive titles, but there is no way to make people do that.

It's been suggested many times that descriptive topic titles are helpful.

I think I've seen people refer to specialty groups/forums for topics that one has a specific interest in.

I agree what was said about being respectful and patient that" petthefabric" mentioned. Some responses seem sharp and thoughtless., I am not even sure if the category makes a difference. I think what I am trying to convey is if criticism is not constructive and thoughtful, rephrase or don't offer. Do not assume the writers skill level or reason for asking. This may sound a tad vague but not everyone has a hidden agenda. He/she just wants a truthful opinion . I have written about several issues important to me and some responses have been hurtful. There may be a few licensed counselors on this board but most are using the frame of reference of life experience and would not talk to our friends the way some responses are given thanks for reading
