In order to start a new thread, begin on the Home page. then choose the topic/section that fits your situation. within the section, at the top left is a blue oval with Post New Thread. The other you ask about is to see the Threads in the same manner as on the old QB or to view them so the replies appear as connected to the post that was replied to. just click on it and see if you like one or the other. it is easy to switch back and forth.

I was a die-hard read from Unread Topics gal. I was very unhappy to hear that it would no longer be available. I saw a post from one of our members and can’t recall who that was. Their tip was to scroll to the bottom of the screen and click on Archive in the Contact Us menu bar. Then choose the Forum/Section that you want to read from. As you read the posts in that Section, your computer changes the color of it. Then you can move to the next Thread that has not yet changed color. This really satisfies my Unread Topics fix.

Where do i find "unread" topics

Ok..Im sure there is some thread already on "UNREAD" topics, but I dont have the time to search the entire board looking for it. Could someone please explain how to view just the unread topics?? Thanks in advance. Oh wait...what the heck is a "tag". for example: You may add 5 tags to this thread. What the heck does that mean? sorry... not all of us are total computer geeks :)

Where's the things I used to have at the top of the page?

OMGoshomitey! I'm about to get sick! I am a newbie to this forum but have already found so many wonderful things and put them in little folders or groups and now I can't find them!!!! AARRRGGGHHHH.... Can somebody please help?

Trying to calm down and think.... I can't remember what it was called but ladies were talking about the differences from bookmarking and such. These "folders" would hold an indefinite amount.... I would copy and paste the links to these folders..... Is this making any sense? Just when I was figuring out how to get around it up and changes. And can you tell I don't do great with change?

Just one question about new design of board

I lied. I have too many questions but the first one is- how do I determine if I already viewed that thread??? and where will I find the answer to this thread??

sharon b 11-08-2011 06:36 PM

Are they under settings- then on the left side ?

mzzzquilts 11-08-2011 06:38 PM

OK take a deep breath, we're all here to help you!!!

I looked in your "blog" and see a bunch of stuff that you have saved. There's a few different ways to get to it, here's one. Click on the word "BLOGS" in the black stripe up near the top of the page, then click on "My Blog".

Is this the stuff you're looking for? Post again if not, and I, or somebody else, will be around to help. It's all here, just takes a little bit to get used to the new look and feel....I love it!

How do I search within a given forum?

I wanted to search this forum (QB Help Center) to see if my question had already been asked, but Advanced Search does not provide that option-- at least I haven't found it. How does one search within a given forum?

Thanks!

You were on the right road...
In Advanced Search, the default is the second tab at the top. Click the first tab and go to Additional Options. You will find QB Help Center to be the last choice on the list.

Old features??

Is there ANY chance of us getting the "Unread Topics" back?

i have had the best luck just PMing to PatriceJ for specific info...she has been really good about answering specific questions and quickly too...

How can I view only the newest posts/pictures?

Is there a way that I can get to a place on the board that will ONLY show me the posts/pictures for the last day?

What I am trying to find is something that looks like the "old" daily digest. I want to go to a place that will only show me what has been posted in the last 24 hours (or so).

I find that I get very overwhelmed when I see too much and end up just logging off.

Thanks for your help!

Suzanne

TexasSunshine 11-10-2011 03:35 AM

I would like to know that also.

pipp5 11-10-2011 03:38 AM

I've just been clicking on the recent topics button. There are still things on that list that I've seen before, but the envelope thingy looks different if you've already viewed it.

woody 11-10-2011 03:44 AM

go to the home page and scroll down to the very bottom. You will see a next to "contact us" there is "archive" click on that and it will bring up all the recent topics and they change colour once you have read them so you don't click on the again. I find this the best way to keep up with all the latest topics. I hope this helps :)

unhappy

I know you have all done a lot of work on the QB, setting up the new board. I am unhappy that there is nowhere (at least one I can find), where I can go and look at all the threads that just started today. Not mixed in with all the others. I spend too much time trying to find them. I loved the post I would get each day for JUST TODAYS subjects. Believe me, I have looked for this.....no luck. Does anyone have an answer to this?

SueDor 11-10-2011 09:19 AM

Go to Settings, Click on General Settings in the left margin. Fill out that form, Where it says Default Thread Age Cut off - I have it set on Show threads from last day. Make sure you go to the bottom and Save Changes.

KarenBarnes 11-10-2011 01:41 PM

Beginning of thread...

When I click on the title of a thread all I see are the replies that others have made to the thread. Where do I find the original post? I'm sure it's there but I'm not finding it! I know it will be the last place I look but don't have a lot of searching time!

LOL. Simple, but never thought of that. lolol

ChaiQuilter 11-10-2011 05:32 PM

Take a look in settings. Did you accidentally change the order of the thread? Maybe the first post is now the last.

crackers 11-11-2011 03:39 AM

That's right...you may have your settings so that newer threads are shown first.

Click on SETTINGS at the top of this page....on the left hand side scroll down until you find GENERAL SETTINGS and click it.

Scroll down to THREAD DISPLAY OPTIONS. Check to make sure that THREAD DISPLAY MODE is set to 'Linear...Oldest First'. Make sure you scroll to the bottom and click SAVE CHANGES.

mzzzquilts 11-11-2011 07:34 AM

Click on "notifications" up top...then if you see "new messages", click there...or click on the top line that says something like (1) new message.

Groups of pictures posted by type

There was a group on the old forum that someone was doing - she was searching through the forum for pictures and then grouping them by type (pattern groupsings mostly). Did that go away?

Question about new format

Hi, I think I must be missing something. Each day I would like to see the most recent posts under each category, main, pictures, etc. Many posts that say "today" on the right hand side of the page I actually saw yesterday. Is there a way to see just the recent posts like on the old board. Hope this makes sense. thanks so much!

mzzzquilts 11-12-2011 08:14 AM

The "unread posts" feature that so many of us used isn't available on the new board.....yet. The powers that be know that many of us would like it back, and are working to see if it can be integrated into the new board. On the new board, you are seeing them again because there have been new posts made to them since you read the original post. There are time stamps on them, though, so you can look at the date and time on the box on the left...and only click on the new ones. And of course, threads that you want to follow, you subscribe to. There's help available how to do that also. Does that help?

Kitsie 11-12-2011 02:11 PM

I go the the "Archive" place - see black line on the bottom of each page and click on it. (if you've chosen the forums you like, they will show up in red.) Choose a forum, say "Main" for eg. The new posts are in green and the ones you've read are red (makes sense!)

I also have my thread display options set to "Thread Mode" so I can see a brief list of all the replies.

Good luck!

mzzzquilts 11-12-2011 02:50 PM

YUP! Archives is a great way to make sure you don't miss a post! I used that when the new board first came out, before I found my way around and got all my settings how I like them. I highly recommend using it if you're totally lost on the new board :)

I'm one of the ones muddling along here! ... I missed the first week or more, as I was out of town working and just came back online this weekend.

About the Archives .... the listing, is it in chronological order of the start date of the thread, with the most recent being the one on top?

Yes, I think Archive should be right on the top of the page in big red letters!! Elaine, if you change your "Thread Display Option" Mode to Threaded you will easily be able to find the original post.

dotski 11-12-2011 03:45 PM

i think i found a fast way around here ????

okay here's what i found and please jump in if i'm not correct.under the blue banner that says qb daily digest is a link that says quilting message board it has categories and looks like you can read posts til you drop or til you reached the last one you read...also in the same area is a link that say's recent topic's but they are all mixed up but again you can read til you have reached the last post you read. now i have a question how do you know what you have read since the envelopes don't change color. i have not read the board daily like i used too i'm just finding it too hard to understand. if anybody has any ideas to help a blond around this site feel free to yell.

Hi! Yes, the archive listing has them in chronological order starting from when the new board started. The newest one is on top #1. Like Kitsie said, after you read them, they change color, so you know which ones you've read and which ones you haven't.

juneayerza 11-12-2011 03:51 PM

Thanks Dotti,

I see what you mean and it worked fine. I had been Home first and the same thing happens there too.

miriam 11-12-2011 03:55 PM

easy - just make a comment and it will put a little green dot in your envelope so you know you read it and commented of course if you don't comment you are back to square one.

If you go to archive at the bottom of the page it will list all messages in order and the ones read will be a different color. This is how I view all my topics now, it is less of a headache than trying to navigate through the main page.

sewNso 11-12-2011 05:31 PM

i just keep clicking on 'what's new'. i like that.

huntannette 11-12-2011 05:37 PM

ahhh yes...why didn`t i think of that!! lol thanks....just a little comment and ur done...ha ha ahhhhh
