That's how I do it. Just less background clutter and the plus factor that you can tell which message you have read. I'm so glad that someone suggested that.

Yes!! It's the only way I go now, too!

That's also my way of navigating. It eliminates the background clutter which I find distracting.

dotski 11-13-2011 03:34 AM

okay one more question....why don't i get an update in my email when someone made a post on the topic i started ? do i have to "watch" my own topic ?

jitkaau 11-13-2011 03:45 AM

I haven't had a problem navigating. If you've left a comment, there is a green sticker on the envelope and take notice of open and closed envelopes.

SunlitenSmiles 11-13-2011 03:56 AM

not finding the envelope and that neon blue is awful....sorry but it is......i will keep on trying...i miss the part where it had everyones location LOL loved the ones that said 'at my sewin

DianneK 11-13-2011 05:12 AM

"Archives" is the way to go for me. The Newsletter is pretty much useless...same old...same old. I have really tried to like the new board, but some changes are a real pain. By the way, anyone know how to bookmark?

DianneK 11-13-2011 05:14 AM

I am also seeing nothing but a bunch of red 'X's...no envelopes for me.

I also have my thread display options set to "Thread Mode" so I can see a brief list of all the replies.

Good luck!

Thanks to you and to all that suggested archives. It really helps and goes much faster.

I really don't like this new board, it takes up to much time looking for anything. I also don't like our signature no longer showing, after we worked so hard to accomplish it showing up along with our picture. I just tried to open a few attachments (example) to look at the star block and the farmers two blocks and some of them won't open. You have to go in and out two or three times to make it work. I don't spend two or three hours enjoying this board now that you
changed it, and I'm sure I'm not the only one saying this.

anniesews 11-13-2011 01:08 PM

just miss the old board

I used to read the board everymorning first thing before any other emails. I just get discouraged on this new one and give up. I have tried several times to get into this new design but can't find things I always looked at and have to look at dates on when things are posted and not see just the newest postings. I have really tried and just can't do this new board. I wish there was another like the old one and I would go there immediately. :-(

Sorry, but this is even more confusing.... I, too, am not reading this daily as before... just don't have time to HUNT for articles and postings of my interest.
I think I'm going to bail out. Tried this new thing, but still believe: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

THANK YOU to everyone who has helped me in the past; or replied with nice words; or just made me laugh. You're a great bunch of quilters, crafters, cooks and just doggone nice people from all over the world.

Best wishes and my prayers for your health and safety and happiness.

i still like the old format better. it was simple.

Luscious Marilyn 11-14-2011 04:33 AM

I have logged in every day for the last week, been in Archives, and nothing shows up in a different color. That's whats so frustrating, is the fact, that one thinks they have it figured out and then it proves us wrong. I have a laptop and I have Windows XP. So what am I doing wrong. I click on What's new everyday also, and find way too many topics on there that I have already read. I'm happy that it works for you.

Hi Riversong, go to the top of page, click on my profile and when that page comes up on the left side your topics will be there along with your posts. It just says threads started aka topics ect. hope this helps.

Any way to change to sort by posted date instead of last entry date?

First - I know this was a huge undertaking and appreciate all the hard work that was put into doing this new QB.

Q's:
Within a heading, Is there any way to sort by posted date instead of date of last entry/comment?

Will there ever be a time when folders change color after read?

Will there ever be a 'button' for bookmarking, as in old QB?

Appreciate any input or guidance, as I know I must be missing something or doing something wrong.

Thanks.

A few questions?

I do not mind learning something new but this has been confusing trying to learn the new board.
I see that a lot of the concerns that has been posted are not being answered so I thought I would try.
On the old board when I posted a help question I would get a notice in my email. I would get a lot of info
from the very nice ladies on here. Why did the email notice stop? I also can not find the people that I used to
talk to by email. How do I find them? This is the last one. I booked mark a lot of the quilts that the ladies posted
Needless to say I can not open them or find them. I get a different page that I did not understand. I did not print any copies of the quilts I wanted to do down the road. I saved for almost a year now they are all gone.

Click on Home and scroll down to Members Only Thrift Shop and Yard Sale. Within that section is a list of Longarm Quilters who are members of the board.

I still can't find stuff

:(I still can't find where all "My Pages" and "Bookmarks" are from the old QB. Where do I go to see my list of what I posted in threads. I have posted questions but now can't find them to get the answers. I am trying again. PLEASE HELP

ManiacQuilter2 11-14-2011 02:47 PM

Don't feel that you are alone and lost. Click on "SETTING" that is to the right of "MY PROFILE" in the upper right corner and you should see bookmarks under "My Subscription". I find all this new terminology confusing such as blog and such. I did finally post a picture and that took more than a few steps. At least you know how to post in colored letters !!!! I haven't figured out HOW TO DO THAT !!! Hang in there and may us lost ones can find someone to help us with the details..... This dog is TOO OLD to learn all these new tricks.....

Sadiemae 11-14-2011 02:54 PM

Your "My Pages" are in your blog. There are several ways to find it. One way is to Click on My Profile at the very top of any page, then click on Blog.

ube quilting 11-14-2011 03:07 PM

Dear ManiacQ, You are so right! as far as color. First you have to chose the text you want to color by placing the cursor at the biggining of where you want the color to start. Press the left click down and hold while you move the cursor across the text you want to color. At the end lift the click and the text to color should be highlighted in a tone of blue.
now go to the tool bar above your text and click on the capital A that has an arrow down next to it. A selection of colors should appear. Chose one and click on it. The color does not show up untill you submit or post your text. I hope you see this and try it.
peace

mzzzquilts 11-14-2011 03:19 PM

"My pages" were moved to blogs. if you kept them as bookmarks, they are in bookmarks on your "Settings" tab. If you want to see where all your posts are, click on "My Profile", and look on the left...it shows posts you started, and posts you commented on.

I see your post three times now, they are getting through.

I just looked at your BLOG, it has 27 entries in it, this is just a sample of what I saw there, isn't that what you're looking for?

I tried this and also going to setting and then to the blog. I see the list but none of them are mine. I clicked into one of them and was sent to the thread I replied in but not to my reply like the Old QB did. There were 11 pages to search through. My topics are not there. Where do I find them?
Thanks for the help on this headache!

I don't quite understand. This is what I see, but they aren't yours?

I hope I don't cause more confusion. When you said My Topics aren't here--do you mean the bookmarks or thread that you started. You probably already know, but
Bookmarks should be found by going to:
Settings
My Subscriptions on the left side then click on Bookmarks under My Subscriptions.

Topics/Thread that you started should be found by going to My Profile/Latest Threads Started.

Re: button for bookmarking... I don't see that in the future, but will forward your wish just the same :)
To answer the date posted and already read questions:
I was a die-hard read from Unread Topics gal. I was very unhappy to hear that it would no longer be available. I saw a post from one of our members and can’t recall who that was. Their tip was to scroll to the bottom of the screen and click on Archive in the Contact Us menu bar. Then choose the Forum/Section that you want to read from. As you read the posts in that Section, your computer changes the color of it. Then you can move to the next Thread that has not yet changed color. This really satisfies my Unread Topics fix.

bonniebusybee 11-14-2011 05:58 PM

Comments on new format

The old format allowed me to read a message and immediately return to the main page, where the color would have changed, indicating it was something I had already read. Very handy when you repeatedly have to come back.

Also, as I write this, the message box is so wide I cannot read what I've written without moving the blue bar at the bottom back and forth, even when I drag the screen all the way open.

It would be very helpful if we could have terms defined: What's the difference between a blog, a post, a tag,and a thread? What is a "sticky"?

And why, on the opening page, can everything be opened except the headings which indicate we might be a little dissatisfied?

The Post Icons (below) are difficult to see because there isn't enough contrast in the face and the outline.

What is "style", and what is the difference between "default" and "mobile"?

Thanks for asking these questions. I thought I was just late to the party.

I am scratching my head really hard and am thinking of taking up smoking while I eat sugar and carbs - this is SOOOOOO FRUSTRATING!!! I STILL can't find the answers to all my questions that I had asked in ALOT of PLACES - There are NON of my bookmarks in "my BLOG", I really, really miss the old QB and just don't understand WHY we have to drive us to drink so we could figure this out! Sorry - I am NOT one that wants to play games and read all the postings about that - I jusdt want to see all my bookmarks - PLEASE HELP ME - Someone - ANYone! Thank you ever so much! uhh where is my signature?

justsojanie 11-15-2011 05:19 AM

Many thanks for the guidance/help. I'm trying really hard to accept this new site, but seems we lost some elemental 'good' things. I'll continue to learn, contribute, and enjoy other's work but this new site has taken a lot of fun out of it.... Sorry if I sound negative this morning, just frustrated.

It is ESPECIALLY annoying that items appear in order of latest reply date. It forces me to follow a thread instead of checking out the most current!!!! Oh my, ranting again. Sorry.
