2017 Temperature Quilt

Love this idea. Can't wait to see what y'all come up with. I am mulling it over, but think I have too many projects already in line to commit to this one right now...but I always reserve the right to change my mind. Exciting stuff.

I think this idea is fabulous. And a GREAT way to use up scraps. I know....we never have those, right?!
I'm a little concerned about the amount of colors I'd have to have. We go from -25 in the winter to 105 in the summer. That's a lot of gradient color swatches needed.....hm....

Wow! Those of you who have shared pictures....they are all wonderful! It is very inspiring. I know I would get way behind and then not finish so I am just going to thoroughly enjoy what you all are doing on this thread! Thank you for taking time to share progress to date photos.

I'm tracking mine in Excel although it has not been necessary yet. So far I have been working on mine every day but I don't expect that will continue for the entire year. I will admit it does feel good to get into the sewing room for 10-15 minutes every day for just a tiny bit of "me" time. My DH has been interested in the process. It is supposed to hit 50 tomorrow and this morning he was asking me if that meant a new color in my quilt. It does !

I made myself a chart and planned the quilt out so I can keep track. The S blocks will just be a solid color (white?) to make it work out.
I plan on doing half square triangles with the upper half being a solid color for the average temperature of the day, and the lower half going to be a patterned fabric for something significant for the day. Going to use holiday scraps, denote family members and pets birthdays, precipitation/weather, or anything of interest.
Here is my plan:
