Ive actually pulled up last year's weather report & am going to use that to gauge for this year. The highest so far is 118... yes, every year we ask ourselves the same question, "Why do we continue to live here?"

Depends on how many different colors you want to keep track of.

I ended up going with 10 degree increments which meant 11 different colors, unless we get some below 0 temps, then I'll have to add another. Will also have to add another if we get any temps over 110.

Oh, and good idea pulling up last year's weather. I ended up looking at the average monthly temps for my area and used that to help decide colors since I'm trying to pull all of mine from stash and wanted to make sure I had enough of each color for each temp range and enough variety within colors for those parts of the temp range that are likely to be most common.

That looks like a good progression of color. I arranged mine more emotionally, what I needed in certain weather ranges, or how I felt in them. So, I need yellow when it is in the 30s, and celebrate the 70s with red.

Mnt Gma, if I did that the 50's would be grey and anything under 50 would be black, all in all a very uninteresting quilt! lol

The weather in Georgia has gone from very cold (low of 14 degrees) to warm (high of 72 degrees). I am having to dig for colors I didn't expect to use yet. It is fun watching the temps each day and seeing the different colors come together.

How about some pics of your fabrics, the range of colors you are using?

My progress so far. Highs, Lows and then Precipitation. Poor photo quality but thought I'd share anyway. We've already had more days in the 20s this year than we had all year last year.

For the temp quilt:
  • Purple = 20s
  • Teal = 30s
  • Blue = 40s

For the Precipitation Quilt:
  • White - no precipitation
  • Kona Lake = precipitation level between .01 - .25
