Teen, your quilt is what my grandchildren call "sweet". A nice way to show off the hexes without creating a whole quilt of them. Lovely soft colors.

Quiltmom2, well you are a brave woman. The fifty states are one thing but then quilting it all! I would be frozen into immobility thinking about quilting this precious piece. Congratulations on this fabulous effort and result!

Beautiful finishes, Teen and Quiltmom! All that beautiful handwork!

The embroidery states quilt is a different one than the one I'm doing. I'm going to borrow your good idea to put a star in some of the spaces, to round it out to an even number.

Thank you for showing your work, ladies.

I had a finish this weekend, but it's not a quilt so you don't have to count it.

Thanks for the close up. Great embroidery, and I love the star for the capital.

Your embroidered quilt is heirloom standard, QuiltMom2! Absolutely gorgeous!
Teen, what a sweet hexie quilt! I love how you used different light fabrics for the background.
Sewbiz, your afghan looks perfect for snuggling under.
I have three walhangings that only need the binding and a hanging sleeves. I'm hoping to finish them this week.

I challenged myself to learn to hand piece and finished the additional 32 blocks needed to complete the quilt as she had planned early this fall.

She was a master quilter and hand quilted most of her work with the tiniest stitches imaginable. So to honor her intention, I next my next challenge was to learn to hand quilt and complete the quilt as she would have. My stitches are not as tiny as hers would have been but they are within the acceptable range and yes, I got much better as I progressed. I finished adding the label on Friday night and gifted it to her youngest son and his bride yesterday. He was about 15 when she passed away and did not have "grown up" quilt from her. Now he and his new wife have a quilt from both his mother and from me, his Auntie Linda.
what a wonderful gift. Your story is perfect.

I managed to finish my first February ufo over the weekend, I cannot share a picture of it yet- it was a test pattern for a magazine designer, I can share until it is published but it’s done and I’m working on another ufo- which I set aside to get the test pattern done in time for the deadline. I hope I can keep up the momentum .

Ckcowl: Congratulations on finishing the UFO. How exciting to be a pattern tester.
