Haven't seen that one, Irishrose2. I'll take a look.
Thanks,
Rob

I don't know if it's still true, but back when I was still practically living on this board a few years ago, the Michael Miller Jet Black was the one people liked the most, so that's what I bought.

If I remember correctly, it didn't shed much, if any, dye when I washed it and I like the feel of it - it feels like Moda solids, to me. I don't think I've ever used any of it.

Thanks, thepolyparrot!

In my quest for black, I fell off the wagon. First, I bought 3 yards of the one suggested by Irish rose, then saw that there was a sale on WOW at the same place, so I bought a few yards of that too. Then I decided to see what the Amish Black at Keepsake Quilting was like, so I bought three yards of that one too. Um, I can’t remember exactly how much of the WOW I bought so I either ended up buying 9 yards of fabric, or maybe it was only 7.5 yards, but also the number 11.5 sticks in my head and the electronic receipts are on my desktop computer, not the tablet I'm using right now... I was completely out of WOW , so that one can be easily justified... and I’m not happy with the quality of the black fabric I'm using for my current Helen Godden project, so I can sort of justify purchasing some more black since I’m getting ready to start a doodle quilt of my own that I want to do on black...

For what it is worth, rryder, I use the Amish Black from Keepsake. Will be happy to hear your review of the other blacks you are trying.

When I purchase and store my black fabric, I keep it in zip-lock bags. Not all black fabrics are the same. Slightly different weight, color and texture. They may all be black, but they will not be the same and do not look the same in a quilt. The Amish Black comes in a zip-lock type bag and it lives there, even the scraps live in that bag. The bag also keeps the little fuzzy bunnies and threads from other fabric from collecting on my beautiful black.

Rob....This is my first purchase of Amish Black from Keepsake. I receive it on Friday so I’ll see then. Others have given good reviews so fingers crossed... please share your opinion, too, on the various blacks you purchase...

Great suggestion. I’ll do the same with mine when I receive it.

I may have fallen off the wagon. Is that where the bruises came from on my butt? I may be having a visit from Fed-Ex and maybe the post office too. Not sure if a cute guy in the brown uniform is stopping by.

😄 Falling off the wagon can do that! 😂

I didn't exactly "take the pledge" this year and it's a good thing I didn't or I'd be black and blue!

I have been doing my best to finish UFOs and work only from my stash, but I have NO resistance when I see either a bargain or a fabric line that causes me to drool.

Whittles will get me every time.

Hello everyone. I’ve been busy with life and not on the QB much lately. I see most of you are doing well keeping to stash 1st.

But Thepolyparrot, I’m with you. I’m using up my stash some, but I decided to buy a big box of fq’s for $1.65 a piece. It was a bargain, but I won’t be doing it again. I thinking of using 1/2 for small charity projects. The rest I’ll use for mysteries or QAL’s. I plan on going on a shop hop next week and I know I will buy some. Right now not in the mood to buy, but by shop hop time I could change my mind. I do need to find border fabric for a blue and wine batik top. I’m wanting to enlarge the top to a queen size. Right now it’s a double. I figure 2 borders will work. I also need more black and cream or wow. I will wait and see.

I just posted my March Colorblock quilt onto the pics page. It's all made from scraps, except for the backing which came from my stash yardage- yippee! These Debbie Brown quilts are quick, easy and really eat up the scraps. Anyway, take a look over in pics if you get a chance.

Thanks, Rob
