I fought with the colors and ended up replacing the yellow that I thought was soooo right. Thanks to those on the board. The trouble I'm having with it now, is that it is so huge. I'm going to get the 8 foot ladder out so I can put it back up on the design wall after I sew something on it. My little step ladder is too teetery and I'm afraid of falling. I followed all the directions so it's probably no bigger than anyone else's.

This is all new to me. Are her quilts generally moderately complicated? I am interested but couldn't get her blog to come up correctly. I do love the colors. When you go to get paint chips do you decide on color values or is it suggested by her.

Ioftheneedle, Make it any color you like. :-) I would say Bonnie Hunter's quilts are moderately simple. She uses easy to sew, uncomplicated, basic quilting units-- components that are usually used in many quilt patterns.

Bonnie's quilts have lots of pieces but she breaks it down into steps that are pretty easy to do. The paint chips are a reference for the colors she uses. You can use those colors or choose your own. Every year there are gorgeous quilts from other colors. You might want to take a look at some of her free patterns to get an idea what her quilts are like. She'll be starting her leader/ender challenge for this year pretty soon. That's another fun thing to follow.

I think the main thing with Bonnie's quilts is that they tend to be busy with lots of small pieces. To me, with her quilts it's all about the pattern, and so value is super important. You have to be careful to keep the relative values the same when going with a different color scheme, if you want the pattern to look the same. The paint chips are to help match hue, but looked at in gray scale they can also show the value relationships between her different colors.

[ATTACH=CONFIG]575643[/ATTACH]This is what I've worked on most of the day. I had to cut more green hour glasses and find more yellow to go with them. Only 6 left to make. Then the bottom will need more neutral 4 patches. I know that some of the purple 4 patches are turned the wrong way and that makes it look wonky. It sure looks MUCH BETTER in the picture. But in real life it looks like a D- grade. Lots of points are on and lots of them are off too.

I was participating in the virtual quilting weekend, but I'm getting company tomorrow and all that will have to stop. How are you doing????? I passed my colonoscopy with flying colors. He doesn't want to see me until 2022. Praise the Lord!!!
