It's fascinating to see how the color placement affects the overall look of the quilt. The black seemed so dominant when we were making units, but it doesn't overwhelm at all in the whole. Nor does the yellow. Surprisingly, it's the green that seems like the major color of the quilt. I loved the green and aqua together in the hotel photos, and so I'm pleased that they ended up being placed so they're so prominent.

IrishNY, I think yours will be gorgeous and very Grand Hotel-ly. You've really managed to capture the feeling of the hotel photos with your color choices. It looks as though the choice of a single solid neutral will be stunning.

I feel awful, but I just don't love this quilt. The pattern doesn't seem balanced to me. I might have to fool around with some changes before I put it together. Oh well, it was still fun working on the clues each week.

I'm so relieved that the 1/4 size will be enough to capture the spirit of the whole. Six blocks. These spinning blocks are appropriate for the Grand Hotel as it's usually windy out there in the middle of the Mackinac straits.

I feel the same way. I don't love this quilt. I too will play around with the design. It was fun to see the new clues each Friday and how the blocks would turn out. Alas, I think this will be my last BH quilt...just too busy for my tastes.

It will be so interesting to see the different quilts that come out of our fabric choices, and the alternate colorways. I'm very far from being able to put anything together. Still toiling away on clue #2. The only clue I've managed to complete thus far is #3. I hope people will continue to post photos in the coming weeks and months as they make progress, even though Bonnie's posting of the clues is finished.

SnS, I see where part of your name came from. It's shining on that super long table! I'm sure the other part is shining on your face.
I think I would like the quilt better if it wasn't scrappy (and I love scrappy). It's just so busy. Even if the neutral was a solid color it would help tone it down and help the pattern show better. I know I prefer the computer version where they are all the same.

I am at my DD's ...it is her great table and She left the leaves in so it would be part of this project

have it all laid out now 2 blocks by 3 blocks (1/4) quilt...and even have the center 4 patches all going the correct way around... took the picture too soon...giggle..

Just because of my experience with past BH's designs I opted for constants in the black, yellow and neutral. I think its an easy way to simplify the appearance of the quilt. Though I still like some of the colors to be scrappy. Sorry about the shadow, overhead lighting is great when your not in your own shadow.
