SewExtremeSeams - we won't abandon you. You have plenty of time to take care of what sounds quite extreme. Maybe give yourself permission to fabric shop a little to relieve some stress?
Liz92B - that's exactly what I was asking. If the white fabric was a tone-on-tone fabric or a solid. With the red quilting it will have a lot of depth, being tone-on-tone and still show the quilting. I think we are all looking forward to seeing more progress photos.
I like how this thread is turning out - some people have finished projects while others are just coming on board or working their way through their projects. Now, we just need a few more international participants.
On another note: Canadians aren't really known for being overly patriotic but the Northcott Quilts Of Valour Oh Canada line of fabric is selling out all over the place. My LQS has placed a second order and they ordered 2 bolts or more of everything to start with. I think that's great!

SewExS ... Oh dear! Renos are not the most fun at the best of times. Worse when it isn;t by choice. Though think of how "new" everything will be when you get thru it all. Keep your "Eyes on the Prize" and you'll get thru the upheaval. I was thinking exactly like W4Me .... allow yourself a little FART to help destress!
W4Me ... I hear ya I hear ya ........... I have a date with Monty tonight!!
Northcott's Oh Canada Line ... it's selling like hotcakes here too! So any Canucks who want it, get it NOW or you may be disappointed!!!!

QuiltE: Mondy's mustache looks quite striking!
* a FART I have no idea what that might stand for... I am looking forward to brand new flooring in my dining room and kitchen as I do not care for the pergo stuff. I had real old growth hardwood floors for over 2 decades that I loved. And also had tile in one of my kitchens. It should be fun seeing what is available that is easy to care for and hides dirt. We have a farm and stuff walks in all by itself. Occasionally a chicken walks in if we leave the door open. So far, none have left their tracks.
I have 2 handcranks and 3 treadles in case we are without electricity and plenty of vintage machines to clean if I get bored. But, first thing Friday morning when they start on the roof I am going to the quilt and crafts stores.

How wonderful - this thread is getting really busy!
Morelcabin - lovely Canadian wildlife quilt. A full size bed quilt in those colours and using the same appliques would look fantastic. When are you starting? No pressure.
Works4me - pretty glass candle holders, such tiny detail!
Liz - you will have a nice fresh and cheerful look with the red and white, and unmistakeably Canadian!
QuiltingJaguar - really nice quilt, but such sad memories. Can we inspire you to start a light-hearted patriotic quilt?
SewExtremeSeams - sorry to hear about the damage to your house. I love your approach - walk out, go shopping, leave the chaos to the men!
QuiltE - love Monty's moustache! Has he been combing it?
Dublb - we have a jug of yellow roses in the front room and I think of you every time I look at them. Can't you feel a yellow rose quilt coming on?
Meanwhile, slow progress here... dentists this afternoon... way behind with the gardening...

SewExS ... Thank you on behalf of Monty!
FART = Fabric Acquisition Road Trip
So ENJOY your FART when they start that roof!
You'll find there's a lot of quilting acronyms used on the QB. Here's a compendium of some that might help you with all the alphabet soup used ...
http://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f1...s-t178507.html
Muv ... Yes, combed and well trimmed and groomed to meet inspections! Photo doesn't pic it up, but I mixed thread from a black skein with grey. I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed embroidery work, so heaven forbid, I might start something else. Keep nudging all these others, would you? OOPS!! that'd be "enthusiastic encouragement" to quote our fearless leader, W4Me! Better you than I for the dentist's visit today!!!
DublB ... ♪♪♫ Yes!!!!!!!!! ♫♪♪

Me? ... work hard in the office today and hope to knock off early and turn this three day weekend into 4-1/2 days!!! Oh how I love my boss!!!!

SES - It's hard ta do stuff while all o' that construction is goin' on. Ya really have a good attitude.
dettonlissas - don't ya want ta make something patriotic??? I'm makin' pot holders. Whatever size is fine.
QE - The MM did strikeagain! Neat mustache! I haven't done any hand embroidery in over 25 yrs. I was really good at it when I did do it. Hand quiltin' came really easy compared ta embroidery. Thanks for the song!
Muv - That's sweet o' ya ta think o' me. I love my rose bushes. I took that pict. in my avatar several years ago. The yellow rose bush is between 2 red rose bushes.
Did ya'll know that there was a real Yellow Rose of TX. According ta my Dad she was a prostitute & was in the tent w/ Santa Anna durrin' the siesta. Sam Houston attacked durrin' that siesta & won the war. Daddy told me that she distracted him on purpose. I haven't ever read this in my history books but my Dad said that he learned it in his TX history class.
I'm worried about my rose bushes. I'm watterin' 'em w/ water from the washin' machine, but don't think that that will be enough. We still need rain so very much.
