Oh, Judith....those are adorable. Loving the churndashes. Sweet colors for both.

I'm only on my 2nd Kingwell pattern but I Do find her instructions for some block assembly cumbersome. Most blocks I assembled differently then her instructions. I have to keep in mind that she hand pieces most of her her quilts. This block had two different methods offered and I still did it differently. As long as the finished size is provided, I can figure it out. I set up my travel machine today and completed this block for the 4th border. One more pieced block pattern for that border and 4th border done. I'll be constructing that one differently, too. Yes, her templates are expensive. I'm not much of a template purchaser but some quilt patterns really need them to help with frustration levels.

I love the Happy Flower quilt pattern and have yet to purchase. I know your skill set a bit, Judith, and you would have no problem with any of her patterns. I purchased another pattern today for a applique Christmas quilt that I want to start soon. I thought of you, Judith, when I bought it. It's snowmen....lol..

OK....that is cool fabric. It has many block patterns already in the design. It would make them all and make a sampler interspersed with larger background pieced cuts like hour glass block to show off the background pieces. Not sure how large the print is on this fabric so block size would be based on showing as much as the pattern as I could.

I noticed the pinwheel block in this fabric is a bit wonky. Not sure if that was on purpose or a design flaw...

On a side note... I picked up this gray background fabric for border 2 of Happy Birds. I didn't care for the gray in my stash.. I thought it appropriate for this pattern...lol.. I'm using 4 different gray background fabrics.

That was quick, Teen! Thanks...it's a great idea. The actual size of the blocks in the fabric is 1 1/2" and there are 6 different ones in the fabric. A four inch square or HST is about the smallest size to feature the fabric. Thanks for the input...I'm going back to EQ and play some more! A rainbow of blocks would be nice too...

I'm open to more ideas!....

Love the bird fabric.

Judith, did I mention I love the Churn dash!...Maybe I should make rainbow churn dashes! See how ideas play off each other!!!

It goes without saying that my favorite colorway is rainbow of brights with black and white contrast so I can totally visualize this quilt top...lol... You should mix it up with some mini blocks since that is what you are queen of. Lol...Should be a fun project for you...from design to completion....

No mini blocks but a 64 x 73 that leaves no room for mistakes in cutting bg fabric! Colors are approximate.

oooo, I like your pattern!!! It looks awesome with all those colors. And, I love the 2 large chunks of focus fabric to the right and left. What size will your Churns be? If you made this pattern. I love Churn Dashes!

Thanks Judith...the blocks are 9 x 12. With only a quarter of a yard of the solids I'm limited to what I can do with the design.
