Jen Kingwell blocks and finished quilts
#272
Hi, Darcyshannon!!!
I like the Delilah pattern, too, though not her fabric choices particularly. Hard to see all the different blocks, at least for me it is.
went to the movies today to escape the heat and came home and tackled this first block in section 1. Thought I'd get it out of the way.. Since I dislike hand work and The alternative was y-seams (no Way!!) I turned edge and machine appliquéd to a really thin piece of fabric, and used trapunto technique. This will be a really poofy block when I quilt it.

Haha, Anael....you would have figured it out. And, thank you! You don't need the thin fabric underneath hexi's. You can just zigzag them together as an option, too. I added that fabric because of the trapunto. I didn't want any of that loft stuff coming up through the quilt top. I used monofilament thread to join hexi's. You know me, I don't like to see stitches on my applique.

Just a note on monofilament.....I only use it as top thread....and I clip it as soon as I can. I don't use in bobbin. I've heard horror stories from others about cleaning out birds nests so I don't chance it. Thought I'd share before you used it...I've had no problem with it using on top thread.
