Probably the Christmas clue will be to sew something. From the yardage given and the cutting given, it seems there is leftover fabric. Is that what you see too? Maybe there will be more cutting of that at some time?

teen, your red fabric is lovely and I like the coordinates.

Sewbizgirl. I am always surprised at Quilter's Showcase fabrics because of the price. I have used it for backings often and for a Christmas wallhanging.

Rose2, that Quilter's Showcase used to be a heavier, very sturdy fabric. It was $4.99 and they often had it on sale for 50% off. $2.50 for good backing fabric was amazing. I used a lot of it. Now it's a thinner fabric. Sometimes too thin. But the prints are getting better.

Givio, I did notice some leftover fabric after cutting Clue 1 of the MMNYD mystery quilt. I had rounded up a bit when I bought it, so I thought that was why. I don't know why she wouldn't want us to cut everything at one time. A few pieces she said to "set aside for later"... so I know we'll be cutting those.

ETA: Ok, I think this link should go directly to the photo- she posted a picture on Facebook showing more of her example's Fabric A, B, and C. Just thought it might help those of you still choosing fabric with your selections!

I'm wondering if it might have something to do with the Fabric A. I have small leftovers for a lot of my fabrics but from what I remember from last year, she tends to be pretty generous with the estimates needed so that's not too unusual. However, with the pieces cut from the Fabric A currently, I still have over 14 inches x the length of fabric unaccounted for. She said the Fabric A would be used for the outer borders and someone pointed out the pieces we've already cut are perfectly sized for those borders if cornerstones (?) (capstone? I'm forgetting the word- corner blocks) are used. Given all that and the mention of a medallion setting in the center that I think would be weird if it didn't include any of the main fabric, I'd guess we'll be cutting some more of that Fabric A on Christmas (if we're really lucky, maybe we'll get the directions for creating the medallion in full that day!)

vadalia, No, next week will just be clue 2. The rest of the clues will come on NYD. She's been doing it yearly, on NYD-- that's when we'll see what we are doing.

Oh, I know. We just don't know what Clue 2 entails, so I was speculating

    Thank you, Vadalia...so helpful...

I’m expecting some HST sewing and maybe some 4P. The bigger squares on Fabric C lead me to believe that these will be focal patches of the medallion. That means I changed Fabric C...Lol...trying to figure this out instead of allowing the mystery to just unfold is killing me. I should just go with the flow but I am so anal...HA!

I finished a quilt top today and just need to do borders so I should be cutting into this pile of lovelies this weekend after I clean up after the bomb exploded and cut up the scraps.

I decided to not cut into Fabric A yet. Since these are borders, I’d prefer to size them when center done.

I made that decision too. I don’t like real wide borders, so I’m going to reduce them once I see the rest of the quilt top go together.
