Random here too

cherrybsixty 03-01-2018 11:03 AM

Dedemac, I would have thought that all votes would have been casted by now, but since it's still open, I vote random. I viewed it as light and bright for the little one. Have a good sewing day everyone.

Cherry

sunrise450 03-01-2018 12:22 PM

Dedemac I vote for random also. Hope I am not too late.

D.Henson 03-01-2018 12:56 PM

QuilterMomma: Absolutely beautiful. Your quilting is amazing.

Dedemac 03-01-2018 02:55 PM

The voting is, closed.:D I did decide on the random. It just speaks to me more, may separate a few to make it a little more random. But this will be a March finish!!!!

oksewglad 03-01-2018 03:38 PM

Nice to hear about potential March finishes! Waiting for the ABC quilt to be a finish.

I pulled out another mini that I started at least 10 years ago. I've been handquilting it...put the final stitches on it today; now to sew if I can find some binding fabric to make it an FO! More later.

WMUTeach 03-01-2018 04:40 PM

Add one more to the February Finish List! I made a blue and white scrappy barn raising baby quilt last summer and then decided it wasn't what I wanted to give at the time. So I finished it now, actually in January but who is telling. It will go to another little one who needs a quilt at his grandma's house. She is part of the office staff where I work. I am crummy with photos so you will just have to believe me! :o

Now on to March. One UFO layered and ready for the machine just need to decide how to quilt it! Also finished a second baby quilt but... it was not a UFO. Just a work in progress that got set aside for a while.

This one is dating me to 2012. I joined the siggy swap. Finally put into a quilt. I had scrap hst the same size cut in a pile for so long, they are all done. Did a scrap border as well.

cherrybsixty 03-02-2018 09:07 AM

Good mid morning everyone, just wanted to stop by and say good job on those finishes 'oksewglad and Q-Momma,' love me some hand quilting and finishing up a swap. Have a good production day, it's past time for me to get started. Not working on a UFO today, maybe tomorrow.

Great finish QM.

My Feb. finishes came up very short. Zero! I was working on Boom blocks, needed a baby quilt, and was a bit under the weather. Hopefully, March will be a much better month for my UFO’s.

QuilterMomma 03-02-2018 10:44 AM

It will be better D.Henson. I know that once I have the binding completed on three that I did get quilted last month, I will be posting some more. I am hoping at least 10 UFO finishes this month and another in April. That is my goal, we shall see if time allows.

D.Henson 03-02-2018 10:49 AM

QM: No doubt you can achieve that goal. I’ve seen how fast you move through the boom blocks. It feels great to finish UFOs. I’ll be cheering you on! :D

QuilterMomma 03-02-2018 11:37 AM

Love my cheerleaders!
Most of my projects that need done right now are just the quilting then binding. I have 18 quilts and runners to get quilted. Lots of time on feet which I have not been able to do. Most of those are easy, but I have some that I want to put into show and will take lots of quilting time on them. I still work full time job so no dedicated slots at home. Once I get caught up with customers, will tackle them. I am going to set aside a designated slot for mine. Plan is to do three customer quilts, then put one of mine on, then three, then mine. I think I can get them done that way.

oksewglad 03-02-2018 04:13 PM

Nice finish QMomma...and to find the HST's to finish the blocks....We have to do this at our own pace....it's nice to be able to work on your own projects in between customers.

Thanks on the comments...I stuck this little one in a 2 qt wire bail jar and it sits atop my frig...May the only Broken Dishes in my kitchen be in this jar!

Thanks to Petthefabric, I resized the pictures of the pillows I made from my Mom's cut pieces. My daughters are coming over tomorrow for a crafting day and I'll send the pillows home with them.

retiredteacher09 03-02-2018 06:24 PM

Congratulations on your finishes Oksewglad (yes to it being the only broken dishes), QuilterMomma, and Conchalea.

Connie

petthefabric 03-02-2018 08:20 PM

Conchelea;happy it worked. Pillows are nice.

elly66 03-03-2018 08:03 AM

Those are beautiful oksewglad, Conchelea and QuilterMomma. Your plan for quilting them sounds like it will work well. Look forward to seeing them.

Teen 03-03-2018 07:39 PM

Goodness....these finishes are wonderful!

Oksewglad.....love the mini. You just whip out the hand quilting. Right on!

Quiltermomma... Your quilt is so pretty. I think it's amazing what you complete when you are still working fulltime. Your strategy for your UFO's sounds great.

Conchalea....love the pillow and the sentiments behind them. It would be so cool to be close to my mother and come over on craft day. I'm so envious. Those moments are so precious. Have fun. Your girls will love the pillows.

My quilter's household is going through the flu bug. Now her husband has it, bless them. I have 2 quilts prepped and ready that have been hanging for a couple of weeks. I have no deadline other than "I want these finished!". I'm reluctant to start another quilt so I continue to make SBS blocks. 57 of 140 are done. I may do a mini since I can quilt that quickly. I still have a UFO (pizza box find) that need additional blocks made so I might cut those out tomorrow.

Conchalea 03-03-2018 08:39 PM

Teen-thank you. My daughters & I are very close, both emotionally & geographically. We spend a lot of time together. Today they both scrapbooked while I trimmed threads on the quilt made from the rest of the blocks from Mom’s box.
I also started a new project-a wall hanging for a friend I often ride with. Her birthday is in May & I found a perfect idea for her. It’s a fun project, but a new one rather than a UFO. It’s using up some stash fabric, but a lot of it is from new fabric so it won’t help reduce my stash very much.

Teen 03-03-2018 08:48 PM

That sounded like a lovely afternoon with your girls. Please share your wall hanging when done. I believe "new" fabric is now considered stash so....you are using stash. Lol...Semantics but works for me..lol.

sunrise450 03-04-2018 05:46 AM

Quiltermom, congratulations on your finish, Looking good!

oksewglad, your mini turned out adorable! The little yellow one in the lower left hand corner looks like a bow tie, so cute!

Conchelea, your pillows turned out so pretty, I'm sure that your daughters will love them.

oksewglad 03-04-2018 07:06 AM

sunrise, thanks...all the blocks are the Broken Dishes pattern, just 4 sets of identical HST's...a fun block to make with left overs...whatever the size.

QuilterMomma 03-05-2018 08:49 AM

Conchalea....love the pillow Your girls will love the pillows.

Two more finishes. The Kaffe Fasset was a ufo from 2014, then did the Boom 18 and left it. I abandoned the 2014 ufo and used the pieces I made for the boom swap setting and this is what I go. Turned out pretty good. My seams are not perfect on it, but it is done and daughter quilted it. Yeah, a finish there.
Then the 30s quilt is from a BOM from 2008 I think, not sure. Took me more than a year to just get the blocks made then set aside for a couple of years, finished the top then set aside to quilt. Took me a few years to make the decision, better done than perfect. I did an edge to edge to finish it and glad I did. It is cute, but anything extra on quilting would have taken away from the cute blocks and applique. All done.
I have binding to do on two table runners that are ufos. Will get on them tomorrow am.

Woohoo! One 4-year-old UFO completed. It was a bit of a saga to get here, but I found a top to match the backing I made a couple of weeks ago, added 2 borders (well, added 4 borders, ripped them off, added strips to make the top the size I thought it was, and re-added 2 borders). Quilted with a pantograph, which is perfect because custom quilting is why this top was a UFO in the first place.

Binding is 2-colour - white on the back and black on the front.

Thanks Rob. It's one 2-sided quilt. But only 1 UFO, because the back (green) was just made last month to use up stash and designed to be a backing (for a different quilt, but that story was told in an earlier post).

Two more UFOs done. I did a bargello quilt for kids in this fabric. Received this pattern from a secret pal along with the ruler to make it, so I decided two years ago to make these. Well they did not get quilted until now. I am ahead two presents at least for Christmas. The fabric is the left overs from the bargello quilt. I tend to buy a little to much and cut to much up.

rryder 03-06-2018 12:50 PM

Those are gorgeous QM! Fantastic Christmas presents!

Rob

oksewglad 03-06-2018 03:36 PM

Very striking table runners, QMomma!

jaba 03-06-2018 04:58 PM

They look beautiful, nice start on Christmas

joe'smom 03-07-2018 07:07 AM

QuilterMomma, those quilts are so beautiful!

Krista, well done. That is one amazing quilt.

Congratulations to you both!
