I had to go buy 5 yards of fabric for the backing of my great grandsons quilt first purchase in a really long time- bonus though was I had a gift card my sister had given me last September for a birthday present, so I only had to actually spend $2.89. And although a little bit adds to the scrap tote ( 3” wide strips) I did not adding to my stash.

good job on resisting the temptation to buy more than needed, ckcowl!

I did buy the Minky backing, but used 3 1/2 yards of scrap for the top and 1/2 yd for binding from stash. That means I've got a + of 7 1/2 yards. Guess I'd better get another quilt done to get that lowered. I'll try to get a picture tomorrow.

And here's the finish..

Congratulations on your finish, oksewglad! Very nice and lucky DGS!

Thanks, Connie. I think I will make a golf themed pillowcase for him and can scratch another yard off my stash list. The new little one will come into a busy household with a 4 yo sister, and twin 2 yo brothers.

FYI, I LA'd a small quilt from scraps tonight. I have to cut and sew on binding yet, but when that's done I will have used 3 1/2 yards of stash...which means my total used offsets my 2019 new fabric at 4 yards. At this rate I will be in the negative and using up my collection! Will share when the small quilt is done.

oksewglad, that is so homey and lovely, and manly, too.

Ok really like that quilt. Thanks for the link and tutorial.
While I'm still holding on stash buying (as in I haven't bought any:)) I did purchase a fat quarter bundle of Harry Potter fabrics I will use for a quilt for my son's significant other. Looking forward to working on it

I'm impressed with how everyone has been doing. I think MadamKelly wins first prize -- 4 years of no fabric purchases? Wow! I'm hanging in there. No purchases in February and I hope to keep up that trend. I finished a couple of UFOs and am working on four prayer quilts, so I used around 25 yards of stash in Feb. Let's keep up the good work!

ETA: Okesewglad -- loved your strip quilt. It gives me some good ideas as I have tons of strips of different widths.

No fabric purchases for me in Feb except for what was needed to finish stuff. I pulled out my vintage fabric stash and working on blocks for another quilt. Have no plan on layout and the blocks are paper piece designs I have liked and collected just because. Just fun blocks to work on when I have a couple hours to sit...

I think we did extra special good so far this years! Let's use everything from stash all month! :)
