UFO finished for Jan.

Hey all,
I wasn't sure I'd get this one done for Jan. But finally, here it is. It's small, about 19"H x 22" W, but it was like pulling teeth trying to decide what to do to finish it up. First pic is the front and second is the back. Oh, the glitter thread I used in places on the front doesn't show in the photo, bummer LOL! Rob |
I love it, Rob!
|
Wonderful finishes! I've been working on a quilt, but not a UFO. Too many pretties to work on. But I'll be back UFOing in a week or so.
|
Rob, your small quilt is stunning
|
Wow, Rob, absolutely gorgeous ............ congrats on your finish.
|
Lovely, front to back, Rob!
|
Rob: That piece is stunning. Congratulations on the finish!
|
Wow Rob....gorgeous work! Congrats on finishing!!

One more January finish for me. This one is a relatively young UFO, but it's been patiently waiting its turn to be finished since last summer. The original fabric for this One Block Wonder was a field of butterflies. And the border print is from the same fabric line, just on a much smaller scale.

Krista, congrats on the sweet finish.
|
I like it , the one block wonder is one of mine that is on my wall that I haven't a clue as where to go with it. Its like making fabric out of fabric. Just got lost in the whole thing. Maybe someday I'll geter done
|
Rob, I love big or small I just love it
|
Swebizgirl, thank you, it was fun getting them done
|
Question what does PM me mean to add our count
|
It means to private message them to let them know you have a ufo done. Put the cursor arrow on the person's name to the left and click private message. It probably help if you also add a photo of the finished ufo.

I would like to join in this year's challenge. I dropped out last year due to embarrassment at never finishing a project. But my back troubles have eased somewhat lately and I sat down at the quilting machine yesterday for the first time in ages! So I am hopeful that I might actually finish a quilt this year.
I have many unquilted tops, plus all the PIGS I created from stash over the last two years while not quilting. (I decided I would not finish another top until I was able to start quilting again, since I have space to store PIGS but am running out of space for unquilted tops.) I did make an enormous dent in my stash with the PIGS, but unfortunately bought fabric to fill all the space up again! Last week I made a folder called 'fabric I wanted,' and have been saving photos of fabric to that folder rather than buying it. Wish I had thought of that sooner, LOL. |
Nobody can just leave our group, Joe's mom. Once you are in you are in:D We all get sidetracked for one reason or another and there is no shame in that! Nice idea about the fabric I wanted file!
|
Joe'smom....so glad you are feeling better and are able to enjoy your craft again. Excuse me..but, what are PIGS? Lol...my mind is wandering to all kinds of things...lol...
|
Thanks everyone!
Kristakz- your one block wonder is stunning, great finish! Rob |

Projects in Grocery Sacks :D |
Okay we have the official January count. I went through all of my PM’s and we have a grand total of “25”. Yea!!!!. (Noise louder than the noise the Chief fans make during a home game). Yea! Thank-you everyone for your comments, and encouragements progress and finishes. Again Fabulous effort everyone. Remember, the progress you make last month could maybe a finish this month. “So let’s keep working on our ufo’s.”
This is month I would like to see more story lines with the quilts and maybe set a reasonable goal for ourselfs. For example I have a UFO i’m Working on this month, that started 2 years ago for my GN. She likes Olaf. I have a top for front and back, just need to sandwich and quilt and take pic. So I decided that would be my project this month. Plus do 2 small ufo’s. The reason this is a UFO, my quilting machine is acting funny, and not stitching right, it skips stitches when I quilt right to left. So I will use FMQ on my sewing machine. My second UFO for this month started 2 years ago. It’s a small twilled heart. I’m terrible at Twilling, so I finished the inner heart with plain stitching stitch. Now I just need to sandwich and quilt. I’m also working on a small heart runner. It’s just 5” squares, but I decided to enlarge it to fit my desk top. My final project this month is to finish a train throw for my GN. It’s cut out, but needs to be sewn and quilted. So my projects goal this month is 4 (2 small projects and 2 medium projects). If I have time complete one ufo charity. I have a few that just needs to be sandwiched and quilted. So so let’s hear your ufo stories. Happy sewing/quilting. |

Happylab...this is a great idea.
My current UFO project was started a couple of years ago when I started collecting 2 1/2" pieces for a rectangluar block pattern called Curtain Call. It takes 120 blocks so lots of collecting. Last week I decided to pair fabric lights and darks together. Now have all 120 blocks sewn in 3 units and working on getting the whole block together. This has been a great 10-15 minutes to sew project when I need a break from my "other" (real) job. Not sure if this will be done this month...but I'm working on it. |
Love it, its just beautiful

So so let’s hear your ufo stories. Happy sewing/quilting. Happylab what a giant idea, set a small goal for a month and work toward it. I really like it, I'm on board with it. I got one UFO I started in 2015 for my youngest grandson and want to give it to him for graduation. I really don't have that much to complete it. Just let me get motivated I want to take to Nevada with me when I go in March. cherryb |
I am ( finally) onto the binding of my first ufo finish for this year- 2 sides done, 2 to go. I was excited to have this one out of the way ( thought I had all my UFOs out, on the table, 4 of them needing to be quilted, bound; two that still need borders, some Piecing. Doable- feeling motivated. Then, about 10 minutes ago I went into the studio to find some cotton yarn for soap sacks I’m crocheting, opened a ( large) drawer I thought was yarn.....
nope, it’s folded up tops/ UFOs.....I don’t know how many....I closed that drawer .... i think I will concentrate on the ones I have out, and attack that drawer Later. |

funny.
I sandwiched my Happy Birds quilt today so it's ready to be quilted....then prepped the binding so....when I have the time, it's ready... |
OK, February Goal - Finish three UFOS.
#1 Orphan blocks from....15 + years ago from my SIL's stash. I had to pick out some of the quilting that was all eye lashed. I thought I was done.....not yet. #2 Quilt and and bind my 2015 guild exchange block quilt #3 Finish a baby quilt that was started last fall, lost the blocks, bought more fabric, found the blocks and the baby was born in November. Scurry, scurry. Then I will return to my unfinished projects and find maybe one more for February. Maybe :o |
I have an old Bonnie Hunter quilt, Chunky Churndash, that I seriously need to get quilted. Also my Allietare top from three Mysteries ago. And one stack of Boom Swap blocks that need to be made into one big, or two small quilts. That's all I'm planning on for now. Don't want to dig any further!
(we need a blushing emoji for this group!) Oops, just remembered another BH top I have not quilted... a Carolina Crossroads I made from all recycled shirts. |
It's college basketball season and while watching I like to have a hand sewing project. Last week, I pulled out a GMFG that I started in 2013 that began before we took an overseas trip. Once home I let it drop. So now I've picked it up again. Tonight I got 3 hexies basted and sewn on the third round of the flower. That means I have a machine and hand UFO on the docket. Will try to get photos later. Hoping for a long BB season..think NCAA and March Madness!
OH SBG...did you find a drawer that should've been left closed?;) |

My goal this month is to finish the quilt I'm currently working on. I'm not sure this is a realistic goal, since I can only use the quilting machine every other day for short periods, but I think it's in the realm of possibility.
This was the first FQ bundle I ever bought -- Jennifer Paganelli West Indies. It reminded me of a beloved childhood book that had very bright and cheerful illustrations. Because the front was so busy and I thought it would be difficult to see what I was quilting, I decided to quilt it from the back, using the roses as a loose guideline for stitching. Unfortunately, I didn't remember when basting that I was going to quilt from the back, so basted from the front, LOL. So it's been kind of a pain to remove those basting stitches. This quilt will be for my son and DDIL; they love the bright colors. |
