Belfrybat: I have counted finishing someone else’s UFO’s and using someone’s orphan blocks as finishes here. Totally your choice but they are from a member on this board. Thanks for making the original owner of the fabric happy to know the projects will be finished.
oksewglad: Very pretty UFO and hexi’s. I know I wouldn’t have the patience to do the hexi’s because I don’t like handwork anymore but I love seeing hand projects. Since my other UFO is waiting for me to get some fabric to enlarge it, I thought I would start on my next project which was a BOM that ended a year ago on Feb 27th. So it too will become an UFO shortly. I have 2 more blocks to make and then sashing strips here and there to finish the top but.....I don’t need another quilt for me so I am toying with the idea of grouping some together and making several wall hangings for my house. I saw pictures of someone that had framed each of the blocks and that gave me the idea of wall hangings. Verdict is still out. :) |
Ok.....both those projects are gorgeous! The colors are really beautiful....the hexi's will make a lovely and homey quilt. I can so totally see this over a rocking chair...specifically, mine....lol..
retired....stunning applique work. Would look adorable as separate wallhangings but the quilt is gorgeous, too. |

oksewglad, that's a sweet UFO and I love those hexis .............
retiredteacher, sweet applique ....... Now that the Nascar races have started I pulled out my "forever" project/UFO and will be working on these little applique baskets while watching the weekend races. So far I have 15 done out of 50 (hence the "forever" title) and now have 5 more prepped and ready for the next few races ............ my other UFOs ....... I'm getting close to finishing the quilting on hubby's quilt and the mini in my lap frame is also almost done. Hopefully I'll have a finish or two for March. Here's a peek at my baskets ........... |
Love the components of your applique blocks, Connie! I haven't done much applique and not very good at it either...always enjoy seeing everyone else's though.
Sync, my hexi's are like your "forever" baskets! Very pretty! |

oksewglad, those are heavenly hexies. I don't see any stitches. Are you using a blind stitch? I hope to make hexies someday.
Connie, what beautiful blocks! Sync, your baskets of flowers are wonderful! |
Thanks, joe's mom..I use a ladder stitch rather than a whip stitch..once in a while thread shows, but hey I'm far from perfect:D I do enjoy sewing them together and it's a good take along project!
|
Sync.....you basket quilt is just beautiful....
|
Thanks everyone for the nice comments. The flower baskets were a BOM from Pearl Pereira's P 3 Designs back in 2015. It is hard to see in the picture but each flower has some embroidery .......... a skill I'm not very good with, but after 50 blocks I hope to improve ......... :o

Some great pictures! That's quite a collection of various blocks, Connie. It looks like it was a QAYG project?
Ok, I just love yellow and blue together. I've got a UFO that yellow and blue..I've got a UFO hexie granny's flower garden too. lol My blocks were made by someone else, but I couldn't pass them up when they were being sold very cheap. I know how I want to set them-- they've been in the box I got them for a few years already. I like your sampler quilt in vertical strips. That type of setting is on my list of projects I'd like to start. :-) I've got 3 borders attached to my Birthday Candy quilt. I've got the blocks sewn and strips cut for the last border. I wish the red zigzag of the border had a little more contrast, but it is as it is. I didn't have a lot of light candies. It's still in three columns, as I'm hoping to QAYG it myself... |
Sync: Very cute baskets.
Givio: Pretty Birthday Candle quilt. My blocks were quilted only in the sections under the appliques. So any borders that were added to the block per BOM instructions are not quilted. I really want to be braver and try QAYG. I have sewn strips directly to the batting and then kept adding the strips in the flip and sew method until I got to the right size but someday I want to do the sashing strips. |
Connie and Sync, I wish I had your applique skills! Beautiful blocks.
Oksewglad, love your pretty hexies, and the quilt in columns is stunning! And huge! How big will it end up being? Givio, love the way the Birthday Candies quilt is coming together! It almost looks like a watercolor, the way you have the squares going back and forth between dark and light. And that border is really going to flow! The reds do stand out and catch your eye. Love your plan to QAYG. I think that's going to be a great way to do it. |
Thanks SBG...I think it's 72 x 96..a nice full size quilt. I'll try to take completed pictures tomorrow.
Don't think I will brave the elements and take an outside photo with natural light! We've had blizzard conditions today. Snow plows have been pulled off the road all over NE Iowa and now -wind chills. For first time in over 20 years FarmerSon is spending the night as road to his house a half mile and a hill away is impassable. He just squeaked by earlier in the day (5:30) to start on evening chores. |

Think I will be able to finish this 3-D block wall hanging in February. Worked on mitered borders.
Will do simple quilting, really want to finish this in February. Judy in Phx, AZ Planning to hang. Q*bert in my studio. |
Gladie, stay inside where it's warm!
Love the cubes, Judy. I want to try some on a baby quilt for an upcoming baby. |
Judy: Very pretty! Congratulations on the finish.
oksewglad: I’m glad your son stayed at your house. Even a half mile and a hill are dangerous in blizzards. |
Judy, I think Q*bert is wonderful. The proportions and colors are so pleasing to look at.

Photo time: Two quilts were finished for January and one for February, one more to be photographed for the February total.
This is my quilt guild 2018 exchange block project. Next is the 2015 exchange block quilt. Six of the blocks for this baby quilt were made by my sister-in-law about 20 years ago. Found in her stash after her death. I found extra matching fabric in her stash! Just enough to make the pinwheels! |
Beautiful finishes, ladies. WMUteach...I love that you finished your sister-in-laws quilt. Lovely!
|
Sweet finishes, judy363905 and WMUTeach.
|
Oh thanks for sharing the lovelies! I really like the soft colored baby quilt with the pinwheels!
|
Nice finishes, ladies. Today I quilted a top for donation that I'd had hanging around for a while. Will take a picture after it's bound.
|
WMUTeach: Very pretty and a great save with finishing your SIL's quilt.
|
Wow, some great finishes! :-)

WMU, I'm sure your sis in law would have wanted her stuff to be used. Well done.
Here is my UFO finish. It's "Dots and Dashes" from Quilted Twins. Lots of scrappy! |
Sewbizgirl: Very pretty! I should go back and check their website for patterns. It's been a while since I looked through them.
|
Connie, they have so many great patterns for scraps! I have made several and have more on my to-do list.
|
Sewbiz....love love love this quilt!! It really appeals to me. Thanks for the info. Never heard of Quilted Twins..
WMU...you are definitely honoring her, her skill and her love of the craft. I have seen your quilts so don't sell yourself short on skill level. I have started to quilt my WIP so it doesn't turn into a UFO and started a new quilt...plus a mini PP project. It's fun to bounce between WIP's but is a bit risky to ensure one completes them all. I'm definitely pushing my limit. |
sewbizgirl, very pretty scrappy. Congrats on the finish.
|
Sewbizgirl...really great scrappy!

Well January started off well and then February hit. I spent 2 weeks in Arizona the end of January into February, my brother-in-law passed. He had Parkinson's but was doing well until all of a sudden. I was barley home and my Mother was put in the hospital and has been out almost a week now. She is getting stronger and I don't need to stay with her as much as when she first came home. I still need to finish the binding on a couple of the quilts from January and for February I was to finish putting some blocks together, quilt and bind. I don't think I will get things done this month but March is a new month. I am blessed to be able to help family out, just very tired right now. I did not see my machine much in February so I hope to spend more time sewing in the next few weeks. I am getting a new grand baby the end of March, so will take some time to spend with Erin when she gets here. Love seeing all the pics of your finishes, they are keeping me motivated to work on mine.
|
Beautiful quilts, WMUTeach! I always love a blue quilt.
Beautiful scrappy, sewbiz! I will not be finishing my quilt in Feb. as I'd hoped, but steady progress. Almost done with the third quadrant. |
Very sorry for your loss, Dawnmc. And I hope your mother continues to improve. Family is always priority over quilting. I just had a new grandbaby born, so I know your excitement over that!
|
Dawnmc, give yourself some grace and time. There are seasons in our life when we just can do what we want, in the end what we do is of more value than the quilt we wish we were working on. Jump back in when you can. It sounds like you are so close to finishing a couple of quilts. Smile and quilt on! :o
|
Dawnmc...so sorry to hear of your family loss and struggles. You are definitely a blessing to be able to support and offer help. Get some rest and take care of yourself.... Hoping mom makes a turn for the better..
Congratulations, Sewbiz, on your new grandbaby!! I remembered one of the munchkins was due in February. Hoping all is well with both mommy and baby. Enjoy spoiling! Such an exciting time for you... |

This is my February baby... Millie! Sweetness overload.
|
Oh my goodness....Millie is seriously adorable. love her name..so sweet. Cuddle Mania! Congratulations, again, Grandma!
|
Showbizgirl, congrates on your new GD, Millie is so cute.
Oh, I just love the finished UFO's being completed. Just a friendly reminder I will be totaling how many UFOs were completed or taken off your UFO list, so if you haven't already please PM me. Thank-you. I'm making progress on my UFO's, I sent 4 of them to my LA lady. So in the next few months I expect to have several to show completed. |
Teen: Quilted Twins are a recent addiction of mine. I just can't resist! For $20.00 plus $5.00 shipping I get a coordinated bundle of WOW what ever. This week I got a browns bundle and some black and paisley border print. My bundle is ten half yards and I do not have to drive anywhere. And I'm on the fabric moratorium too!
Be sure to check their free pattern section. I was amazed at the work put in there and then given away free. Marcia |
