I managed to actually get into my sewing room over thanksgiving and Christmas to finish three ufos this year. These were all started in 2017 and my goal was to finish before 2020. The flamingos are a wedding present for a dear friend. The churn dash was just for fun as I love the block. The last finish is On Ringo Lake mystery quilt from Bonnie Hunter. I changed the border a bit. My husband refers to as the “worlds largest quilt”. It ended up 108 x108 so while not the worlds largest it definitely the largest I have ever completed.

LA, great finishes. I really like your BHMQ.
I'm working on another possible finish tonight. Happy NY everyone. Enjoy and be safe. No plans here except relax and maybe sew. |
Time to sum up my quilting finishes this year. I managed to finish 5 quilts. All of them were UFOs - 4 still from 2018 or earlier, 1 started in June, due in September, became UFO after September.
I still have 3 UFOs from 2018, hope to finish at least one of them through January. I have also 2 projects that I started in October-November 2019. Since they are already "from last year" (yes, it is 2020 on my side of the Atlantic!), they have just gained the UFO status. So 5 more UFOs to do, for 3 of which I have only cut the fabric, for 1 I almost have the blocks ready and for 1 I am half done with piecing the top. Way to go, girl. I have also several further projects in plan - mostly from scraps which I have been cutting to standarised size for some time. Let's hope those will not become UFOs. Good luck everyone with finishing your UFOs and making progress in the New Year! |
Cherrybsixty: Good luck with your downsizing and your move.
LarasAussies: Great finishes! I like your On Ringo Lake border. |
i finished 2 UFOs in December, but haven’t managed to get time to photograph them. Looking forward to some more finished in the new year!

Beautiful finishes, Lara!! All of them so detailed. Lovely work...
cherry....good luck on your move. 90% downsizing...Wowza... Happy New Years, everyone! |
LarasAussies your quilts are great! My daughter loves flamingos. What pattern did you use? Once of these days one of us will make her a quilt. She's pretty busy with college and working right now so hasn't gotten to sew at all since last summer. Maybe I could make it for a graduation quilt. ;-)

its Elizabeth Hartman’s pattern Florence Flamingo. The directions were easy to follow. When I cut out the pieces, I put each set of the same piece (A, B, C etc..) into a labeled plastic bag to keep them straight as there are a lot of pieces. It mostly uses 2.5 inch strips so I got a couple jelly rolls of Kona solids and have enough left over for at least a couple more flamingos. I ordered the pattern off Amazon. |
Three varied styles of quilts...all very nice! I'm a churn dash lover, too; partial to shoo fly block, as well. A great way to end the year LarasAussies.
I ended 2019 by taking the basting stitches out of a UFO so I can put it on the LA. I won't say how long it's been basted, let alone when it should have been done! |
