Sewbizgirl: Lovely outfit! Ivy will look so cute in it.

Quossum: Lovely story and a beautiful quilt.

I have another UFO top. This will go to my church group to finish. It is 69.5” by 80”.

I started 2 colorways In 2018 for Moda Blockheads 2 BOW but didn’t make very many of the weekly blocks. After moving the finished ones around in my sewing area several times, I decided I have unexpected time now so I put the 2 colorways together with a few extra blocks to get the top done. So it is like 2 UFOs merged in to 1.

I'm picking up a UFO and WIP project tomorrow from LA'r. Binding is ready for both so I should have a UFO done by this weekend.. Then.....only one more and I am UFO-free...again...forever...lol....woohoo!! At least that's the plan...

Spectacular finish Q!

I wonder why we're not getting more traction on our UFOs? I have one that just needs to be quilted. Its recipient is having Covid anxiety so its getting moved to the front-front burner.

Good for you! Someone really needs to know you are there for them. You can give hugs via a quilt. Much nicer than an elbow bump. Wink, Wink.

Now that's great thinking! Double the number of UFO's...should count as 2 in my book.

Teen...no UFO's...you need to find a good therapist! haha. Seriously, good for you. You are an inspiration to us "wannabee UFO' free"

Great looking quilt! Killed 2 UFOs with one quilt... perfect.

March UFO Finish... I made these blocks in February of last year to use up some scraps from a FQ bundle. Had no idea what I was going to do with them....then packed them....then moved. Forgot about them until I unpacked them. Decided to give this to my great-niece for B-Day....she's 11....

Lol@ OKSewglad....my therapist instructed me to finish what I start to manage anxiety. I always do what my therapist tells me..;) Lol...

sewbizgirl 03-20-2020 03:13 PM

Teen, that's pretty and perfect for a young girl.

Sewglad you follow your therapist's advice! :-) Your niece will love it. Now back to my regularly scheduled UFO creating session.

Teen, very pretty quilt, neat border.

retiredteacher09 03-20-2020 06:40 PM

Teen: Very pretty! Your niece will love it!

Thanks oksewglad and Teen for the humor.

Thanks for the compliments Quiltingboard friends. I really should be working on the 3 UFOs on my list but this is another one I found while I was rearranging/cleaning and it was an easier finish. I wonder how many more I have hiding in my stash. Lol!

Tommorrow I plan to work on the WIP on my design wall along with my current leader/ender project which is an UFO but one given to me by someone on this board.

Today I got a text message from a young teacher (early 30s) checking in on me. It certainly made my day!

Super cute baby dress, Sewbiz. Have fun making things for her, they grow up way too fast!

A very pretty quilt!

Quossum- nice finish, loved the story that went with it!

Connie- great idea to merge the two! Congratulations on completing it and removing two UFOs from the pile.

Teen- very pretty. I especially like the way you used the colored squares in the border- they remind me of the color dots that designers put on the selvage, and they also beautifully fremae the stars without closing them in. I may steal this idea at some point!

Teen - great stash buster. I may steal the idea at somr point.

And I'm going to finish binding on something today. Tell the Fat Lady to go get on her costume and warm up the pipes...cause she's gonna be singing!

cherrybsixty 03-22-2020 12:50 PM

Good afternoon everyone, it's good to see so many beautiful finishes and I'm loving each and everyone of them.
Really loving lil Ivy's dress, my Ivey brought Gigi some groceries today (social distancing).
Teen, I am loving your niece's gift, the colors are gorgeous.
This week my LA (cousin) brought my last UFO to me. She even attached the binding by hand. I still can't share pix but one day I will.
I packed away all the sewing machine preparing for the move.
The move maybe set back a little because of the 'lock-down' but it will happen.

Enjoy your sewing time and stay safe everyone

The fat lady is singing!

My son performs quality assurance on all my quilts.

The centers are this really cool peacock fabric- leftover from another project. White was new but about half of the purple and all of the yellow is from stash. Purchased blue floral as backing originally but when I put it on the table next to a block...clearly it was a perfect . Made an improv back (afterquilt) - which has given this quilt a nickname - the Mullet.

Not sure where you are finding difficulty with posting photos, there are so many possibilities for an oops but below is how I do it. I have shared this with a couple of QB groups and it seems to work.

How to upload a photo to the Quilt Board.

1. Write message
2. Click "Go Advanced"
3. In the box labeled Additional Options click "Manage Attachments"
4. Click "Browse" and locate your photo where ever you saved it on your computer.
5. Find the photo you wish to post click save and then upload.***
This seems to be where folks stumble. The little box with the "Browse" button needs to be expanded so you can see the "Upload" button. It is on the far right and hidden until you expand the box.
6. Preview Post and make changes if you wish or add an additional photo.
7. Click "Submit Reply".

**** I save my photos in a quilt photos file by year, but I also keep a second copy in a file where the photos have been resized to "medium". It this format will allow you to post to the QB. It seems there are multiple ways to do this and it all depends on your computer and software preferences. I

Hope this helps. It took me way too long to figure this out when the QB made changes but now it seems to work well for me. Hope it will work for you too.

sewbizgirl 03-22-2020 07:10 PM

My problem is getting the photos to upload off my phone to my computer. If I could get them on the computer, I could get them on here. Don't know why this is happening. I have been uploading pics forever, and suddenly they won't send to my computer. I tried hubby's computer too, with the same results. So I don't know if it's my phone camera or what. It's a nearly brand new phone.

Cute quilt, Rff! The back is fun too.

Rff1010: Cute quilt and backing. Congratulations on completing it.

I've gotten off track with my own UFO, but I'm quilting a vintage/antique top 80" x 80" log cabin with mitred triple border. This certainly counts as someone else's UFO! (Top was at the very bottom of an old box that was donated to our church rummage sale. Plan is to finish it and give back to the couple donating the box.)

I think taking on someone else's UFO and finishing it counts as a finish for you. Why not?

cherrybsixty 03-23-2020 11:20 AM

Good afternoon everyone,
Yes, WMUTeach, you have helped a lot of us with the posting of the pix before. And thanks for doing it one more time. But, I like Sewbizgirl, am experiencing the same dilemma, transferring from the phone to the laptop. I was able to do that with my 'Note 3' but they purchased me a 'Note 8'. and I haven't made the transition yet. I know I am a little slow with the technology and I am a hands on learner. Some day one of those 'millennium' grand children will take me through this. Thanks again for the help I very much appreciate it

Stay safe

Sewbiz & Cherry..try emailing yourself the pictures from mobile and download to computer from your email. I have an IPad and have had to be a bit more creative on posting pics.

rff...fantastic finish!! Congrats!

Oh, now I understand! What I do is email the photo to myself from my phone and open it on my computer, save and resize and save again. Then it is ready for the QB!.

retiredteacher09 03-23-2020 04:17 PM

QuiltMom2: That’s very nice of you to finish it and then give it back to the people that gave you the box.

Teen: I use my IPad to directly load a picture. I first resize it with an app, write my note on QB, and then I push Go Advanced. Paper clip is next and I choose my picture and push upload (I think that’s the word). I then close out the window by pushing the button in the word box.

Sounds complicated but it really is slick.

This is exactly the way I do it also.

cherrybsixty 03-24-2020 09:40 AM

Thanks everyone for your assistance on loading the pix. I'm really not trying to be difficult, but if I don't actually see it I do not understand it. Such a 'hard-head.' My phone is g-mail friendly and my laptop is yahoo friendly and I can't figure how to email to the other. It's like there is no connection (in my head).
Thanks for the help

Stay safe

Cherry, try emailing from your phone gmail address to yourself at your yahoo address, then pick up that email from your computer.

Drum roll please....I was invited by my cousin to participate in an online stay at home mystery challenge; I downloaded the PDF, and started checking out stash fabrics...only took 3.. Then I thought, there are UFO's I want to finish, and fabric for quilts I want to start. I quit following the mystery have moved on without starting another quilt that could end up in UFO land!

Whoohooo! Oksewgkad- congratulations on an amazing show of self control!

WMUTeach 03-25-2020 02:52 AM

Three Cheers, oksewglad! Good focus on your goal!

I fell victim to an online quilt-a-long and hated the end result. Good pattern, bad fabric choice. I have cut up the blocks to re-purpose the fabric and to avoid another UFO. I ended up with a few orphan blocks but mostly 7.5 inch blocks of fabric that can be returned to my stash for another more pleasing use.

oksewglad 03-25-2020 05:01 AM

Thanks Bonnie and all! You know it really was a relief, too!

grann of 6 03-25-2020 05:22 AM

Wow! Everyone is doing wonderfully on their UFOs. Me, not so much. I have been working on this Porcelain top seems like forever, but is only months. I'm not finding it fun enough to want to keep with it. Biggest problem is that I started it on the antique Singer up in the bedroom while watching TV. Discovered that it didn't work out well to take it to the basement to work on the Aria. So I have been putzing along here and there. Well, today I am determined to finish up the last couple blocks and get it ready to assemble... on point with half blocks around the perimeter, and sashing between blocks. The half blocks have been a challenge, mainly because I just "skimmed" the directions instead of digesting them into my "old" brain. I was following my logic instead of the pattern's reality. Now I think I have it down pat, so the plan is to go downstairs with the artbin, play with my 1/4" seam, and get to it. No distractions down there.

I am in. I have six to get done. One is 30 years, my mother in law had started it in 1988, and she passed in 1989. I thought it was almost done, but when I looked at it 4 year.s ago, I was sadly mistaken. I worked on it a bit, then put it away till last summer I decided to finish it up. Well, it was a DWR quilt from a kit, and a I found it was missing a few pieces. I called up the company Hearthside Quilts and they were most accommodating. They had a few colors similar to what was in the quilt, and I bought the pieces I needed. I did need to undo a lot, but hey, after 30 years, what is a few more weeks? Will be getting it done for January 2021, our 40th anniversary. She’d be pleased.

I am trying this as advised hoping that this work, I'll explain in another post. Ok, I got it to work, this pix is of a UFO from four or five years ago. I was going to finish it for one of my darling grandson, but figure it wasn't long enough and went with another pattern. Now this one will be gifted to someone else dear to me.

Stay safe everyone
