I"ll be working along with you all, too. I have a couple of big UFOs, and then a bunch of kids' quilt tops that are either panels I bought, or tops I put together for charity giving. They have been sitting around. Even if they are a short stack of coordinated fabrics, I'm considering them as UFOs, since I intended to use them together in a top. I'm working on a couple of those today....
|
Grann - couple of questions to ask yourself.
1 Do you like the colors of the fabrics? 2 Is everything already cut? If so, is there any way you can re-purpose the fabric? Make something totally different? If not then pack it up and donate it someplace.(someone here may want to finish it, make them pay postage) Life is too short to work on something you hate! It still counts as a finish, it's out of the house.

Well, I finished my friend's quilts and got them in the mail to her, so now I will get back to UFO's. The one I am currently working on, I am discovering I do not care for it, don't care for the assembly methiod,or pretty much any part of it. So it is going to be a bear to finish up. I have 2 sets done, four blocks in each set, andI I believe 40 sets, so it is very slow going. It may get stuffed in a bag with all the directions and sent off to Goodwill. I see no point in working on something I hate when I have plenty of projects that I like. We are supposed to get a smattering of snow this weekend so sewing should be a good option.

Thanks Dedemac, I think it is going to get packed up and outta here. I may let it sit for a day or 2 just to make sure I still hate it. I was hoping to repurpose some of the pieces, but not sure I will like them any better in something else.

grannof6: Too bad I don't live closer because I like finishing other people's projects. They usually don't come with patterns though. :)
Dedemac: 'Let it go' will be stuck in my brain now especially when I am supposed to show Frozen to the special ed class I will be subbing in tomorrow. LOL! |
Grann..ditto.what Dedemac said! Move on and find joy!
sewbiz...good luck....I have learned about you that you are a quick quilter. You always amaze me on what you accomplish in a short period of time....and always beautiful. Go get um... The Daisy quilt is assembled and I'm prepping batting and backing for LA. Too much white for me to attempt any quilting on my domestic...so off it will go. |

Good day everyone. I complete my 2 Black batik twin quilts. Both were started over 5 - 10 years ago. the 1st one was from a Batik block swap from this board. The 2nd one, a multicolored batik with black fabrics in a diamond rectangle shape. At the time I really like black, but have since out grown the black background. I plan to give them away to my G-Nephews. Now on to my Halloween UFO. I will post pics when I can figure out how to post pics.

FYI, VQW has started, for those interested.

happylab, congratulations on your two finishes! We are at 14 now.

Well, the Tessalla blocks are in a zippered pouch (pattern included)) and ready for a new home. If anyone wants it PM me and I will happily send it to you.
I have a smallish bin with blocks left from a quilt I made for myself. They are 4 patches and Indian Hatchets in blues/browns with neutral backgrounds. i have them laid out on my big table, have enough blocks for a 14X18 size, will end up somewhere over 60 X 80. It will make a good charity quilt or for one of the spare beds. I will be happy for the bin to not fall out every time I open the closet. I guess technically it is not a UFO, but the blocks are made and waiting for a finish, so we'll call them a UFO. |

Sorry Zozee, no finishes
Zozee, the finishes that I was referring to happen a couple of years ago. Sorry but, I do have somethings that am going to apply myself to putting bindings on this weekend. If I do finish I will PM you. Thank you for sparking the fire
Happylab, beautiful finishes and thanks for the reminder of "VQW" Teen, I knew you would work out those un-finishes It didn't snow like the ole weather man predicted but, it did rain and freeze. So with that I not going anywhere so I guess I will quilt or piece. There are two kid's quilts I can add the binding and there is the new project that I am working. So let me get busy Happy sewing day everyone cherryb |

I have two finishes. Just finished sewing the edging on, even though the picture doesn't show it. The first is a strip quilt (I make a lot of those!), and the second is "Happy Swap" that I did on the Quilter's Circle page. The latter is only 2 months old, but for me anything I take out of the "to be done" closet counts as a UFO. Some are several years old, some only months.
ETA: Ack! I hate this new way of posting pics. Only one posted -- off the find where the other went. |
happylab and Belfrybat :Beautiful finishes. Congratulations on the finishes.
I should make a few strip quilts. |
Nice quilts BB.
|
Great finishes, ladies!! I've never used black as BG....I really need to cuz those look cool.

Here are some UFOs I finally finished....
|
Good morning everyone
Good chilly Saturday morning, everyone. The weather is still playing hobbit around here, so I am still in and trying to move toward complete some more 12" blocks and I am getting motivated toward that binding project.
Belfrybat, your finishes look great my favorite is the 'strip quilt,' congratulation Sewbiz, your finishes are awesome, too Happy sewing day everyone cherryb |
Great quilt finishes, ladies. Snow is expected to start any time now. I'll be sewing rows of my 4 patch/indian hatchet blocks together, about 8 done, 8 more to go. Then I'll have to hunt up some backing fromt he stash, and get it prepped for the longarm. I would love to add another finish to our tally.
|
I love how you quilted around the little children, Sewbizgirl! Lovely finishes, everyone! I'm looking forward to being able to show mine off; just need to finish them first! 😊
|
I am frustrated! I have spent the last half hour looking for a UFO that has disappeared into the abyss of my sewing studio! I know it is here I just don't know where it has taken off to??? This was my plan for the VQW and I thought on the blizzardy day I could be accomplishing something very important. At least I can go outdoors so the snow is coming down so hard. We are suppose to get around 9" and the wind is heavy. A very desolate day for sure. I am ready to rock and roll on it but never counted on having to hunt for it. Well back to the hunt if a few minutes. Break time and QB time.

Belfrybat Congrats on the 2 finishes! |
Sewbiz....gorgeous finishes. I love love the patriotic one. Well done!
I took one UFO and my latest quilt to LA today. Yea! She said she's pretty quick so maybe get back both next week. Got the back prepped for the Daisy UFO I forgot about so I'll be taking that to her when I pick up these two. Refuse to start another quilt project until these are all binded and done. |
I'm so excited! Another UFO almost done. the top and borders are finished, just have to iron the backing and get it ready for the longarm. That will give me 4 to do next week. I have the fabric for binding too. And this makes a double whammy because it is also a stash buster. i'll PM you, zozee when I get it quilted.
|
Have been piecing a top and sticking in a 365 block every now and then, So am working on one of the UFO's. Slow but sure gets the UFO's finished!
|
Happylab - great quilts. I love the way you use dark colours in the first one.
Sewbiz -- wow! On your finishes. The RWB one is stunning. What is the name of the pattern for the last one? The one with four patches and strips? |
Lovely finishes, sewbizgirl!
juliasb: I hope you found your lost UFO. Nothing more frustrating than looking, looking, and looking and still not finding the item. |

Everyone has such nice finishes. I have one top done and it's ready to go to my longarmer, who will quilt and bind it for me. I have another top almost ready and I'll take pictures when it's ready. Hmmmmm ..... apparently, I can't post pictures ????? I was able to post them a couple of days ago but not now ?????????? Very confused. Woooohoooo, going into edit my post and I could add the image ..... :)

Ohmygosh, can I just say how blown away I am by all the finishes I'm seeing here? The patriotic quilt, the one with the striking black background, the scrappy ones, all the others...we're getting stuff done, people!
That said, may I present to you...my second finished quilt of 2020! The Quilt: I had been in possession of a jelly roll of Aunt Grace canine-themed fabric for quite a while. At last, it seemed there was an occasion to press them into service... Why it became a UFO: I do dog Agility (my YouTube channel features many videos of such). For the past fifteen years (fifteen years? Damn, I'm old...) at our club's annual party's white elephant exchange, I've brought a quilt to share. Naturally it gets stolen many times! Well, the year 2019 was the last party, as the people who run our Agility club are retiring. Thus, there was no gift exchange, as instead many tribute activities were going on. So, my progress on the intended quilt of the party came to a screeching halt. Long the quilt languished in my sewing room, a reminder of a phase of life sadly come to an end. Why I finished: Well dang it! The top was done, done I say! And as the new year started and my dedication to tackle the list awakened, I figured I might as well do this one, being as it was sitting there (hanging there?) on my design wall, all forlorn and unwanted and reminder-y and such. So I threw together a back (It's hard for me not to have a pieced back. Forgive me my sins...), enlisted my husband to help me spray baste it (I have decided that spray baste descended from heaven on the wings of angels--banish ye, pins!), and started quilting it. I'm not real wild about the border / binding color, but hey, I was shopping the stash. The quilt's fate: One of my Agility friends was always super excited to come into possession of the Christmas party quilt, only to have it stolen from her every time. She's in for a surprise at our next show... :o https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/Za...L=w666-h888-no |
Wow! Nice finishes Sewbiz!
Sync- that top is gorgeous, can't wait to see it quilted. Quossum- congrats on the finish and loved reading about the story behind it! I thought I'd have another finish by now, but after looking at it I decided that it needed microquilting in the central area, so that’s what I’ve been doing for the last few days. Still have several days to go and then will need to decide how to quilt the borders which will also need dense quilting in order to lay flat with the central section... Rob |
Pretty batiks quilt, Sync!
Love all the doggy fabrics in your quilts, Quossum... Belfrybat, my quilt you asked about is a “Bricks and Stones” quilt. I think Bonnie Hunter has one in her free patterns. |
Good afternoon UFO'ers, went shop looking and decide to look in when I returned to the computer and look what I see that there is a couple of finishes posted.
Syn, such a beauty Ouossum, love the way you layout the story of the UFO and the pix are gorgeous, congratulation on the finish Going to really work on the bindings, maybe I can get enough drive to finish those before the end of the challenge. We are getting close to the goal number. "The magic 22" Happy sewing day everyone cherryb |

Sync: Very pretty top.
Quossom: Thanks for the story behind the quilt. Your friend will love it! |
Quossum, well that explains all the dogs! Lovely but sad story. Perhaps your "Dog-Gone-Quilt" can be used by an animal shelter for a raffle item. On the other hand you may be snuggled up with it now and it's not going anywhere!
Or you can give it to your friend as you intend. Shows me that I should read all the way to end of the post! |
As a reminder. If you have finished a UFO and have not sent me a private message (PM), please do so. Let me know the number. I don’t always read every post word for word to figure out if someone has finished. Thank you.
|
Great finishes!
Sync....your top is really pretty. Makes me rethink working with batiks. Quossom... Love the doggie fabric....bright and whimsical. And, the colors in your strip quilt are so pretty together. Got the binding ready for the 2 quilts at LA'r..so I'm ready. Worked on a birthday present for my precious momma today but otherwise, no new quilts started. Convicted in my goals.. |
