I thought I had cleared my UFO stack, but while packing fabric I came across some left over blocks from a quilt i made last year (I think). So I've put those blocks & coordinating fabric together & plan to make pillow cases to go with the quilt. Those will be for February at the earliest, since my after-school classes start today. The classes themselves are only an hour long, but with travel & set up time, they actually take 2.5 hours each afternoon. The first week usually takes longer, with earlier arrival time in order to get all kids rounded up & in the right place.

Good morning everyone, thanks Krisb, for the link. Congratulations Belfrybat on that beautiful finish. I am a little slow with technology but I'll get it figured out. I don't know of anyone that doesn't have at least one lurking around unfinished some where. We still creating new challenges and they have to have a time out

Happy sewing day everyone

Belfreybat, absolutely love, love, love the border on your quilt for the choir leader. Perrrrfect!

I am so impressed with the number of finishes. We certain do respond to a little positive peer pressure. Now, I am wondering who has cleared their pile of UFOs from our group? Tee-Hee-Hee I am quite convinced that this group is a lifelong commitment. We may diminish the pile but it will never disappear altogether. :o My goal for February is two finishes! I think it can be done.

You two aren't the only ones holding down stools in the caboose. :o

I have been looking at three tops for the past two weeks. We still have 5 days, lets see what can be done. If only my Inspector (from my avatar) wasn't soooo needy at the moment. Even after a couple of hours at the dog park, he will still come under the sewing table and park directly on the presser foot.

Aww... that's the way it should be! Your quilting will always be there, but those little ones won't keep. :o

Wasn't sure if I could add to your number of finished UFO's. But, it turns out, I had 5 ready for quilting at the end of 2019. This is my oldest UFO. It was started in February of 2013. I finished the last stitch on the binding today Jan. 27, 2020.

This is another old UFO. I started it July 2017. The end of the Fall Block Swap. And, this is the wonderful quilt my swappers contributed to. I sewed the last stitch in the binding January 24, 2020. I splurged on the plaid backing fabric. Of course, purchased with a coupon.

Judith1005 01-27-2020 02:26 PM

Great finishes ladies. I have enjoy seeing all your finishes. They are all lovely. It's like a free quilt show here on the board.

I racked up a few UFO's with kits when my sewing machine died a few years ago. The 1/4 just wasn't the same. I will have to take some of those apart and start again with the machine I have now.

But, I have one more quilt that I need to finish (of the 5, afore mentioned, 2 more still need to be quilted) the binding on. It is from a swap here on the QB.

I seem to always stall at the borders. So far, I've been able to match some fabric to old UFO's to finish borders. So, I have been working on finishing my UFO's here and there.

Good evening, Judith1005, two gorgeous UFO finishes, congratulation

:DThanks Teen.there is hope for me! Yes all that's left is the binding. It's cut and will soon be ready to put on; plus binding for another UFO, but that is my sister's UFO! I don't mind making binding. I do it quite often at work, too.

Krisb 01-27-2020 08:23 PM

Judith, your fall themed quilt is great, and the backing is just perfect! No fall off required for that one.

Quossum 01-28-2020 04:09 AM

Judith1005, your two finishes blew me away! Both beautiful but with such different color palettes. I love the touches of red/orange in the clownfish on the blue one, giving that perfect little pop, and the warmth of the colors in the other one makes me want to snuggle in for the evening with cup of cocoa.

Thanks for sharing those lovely pics!

Judith1005 01-28-2020 06:10 AM

Thank you so much ladies. I am very glad to have them finished.

NZquilter 01-28-2020 08:30 AM

A UFO finish for my sister. She pieced it and had it SID quilted; I quilted in the outer border and bound it. It will go to my local Binkie Patrol chapter. Sis sewed for Project Linus and is now unable to sew due to severe back pain.

joe'smom 01-29-2020 08:05 AM

oksewglad, that's a lovely quilt. I'm sorry for your sister's trouble. My back really limits what I can do but I'm so thankful it hasn't stopped me completely.

cherrybsixty 01-29-2020 09:18 AM

Good morning everyone, Congratulations to Oksewglad on your UFO finish, you and your sis did a wonderful job. Sorry to hear of her misfortune pray that her health is restored. It is a beautiful piece

I had a family worked piece once and allowed it to get away from me, I've regretted it ever since

Happy sewing day everyone

Dedemac 01-29-2020 02:54 PM

Been a few days since I could post,
Cherrybsixty nicely aged quilt!:D make sure you note it on the label where's it been and how you sewed it.-- Grann of 6 Congratulations on the finish, Belfrybat love the music fabric.

Welcome Maggy and all who are in the caboose your still on the train with us, so take time and visit the club car with the hot tub! Nice snacks in there also.

Conchalea I think that's why I don't want to clean my sewing room I might find another UFO, it'll get done someday.
Judith1005 and Oksewglad - Very nice quilts. And anyone I missed keep up the great work!

Teen 01-29-2020 02:57 PM

Beautiful finish, oksewglad. Special since you both worked on it. Hopefully, one day sister can find a way to accommodate her love of quilting.

Working on small projects. I designed the layout for my BOM UFO and prepped 3 blocks for it. It's applique and I didn't care for the BOM designs so I'm doing my own. Nothing like complicating and prolonging the finishing of this UFO but, no way would I spend time working on something I dislike. It would never get done otherwise.

As for me, I have a finish, second one for the month. This table runner started in Mach or April with "I can explain how to put it together, I have it together but now need to finish writing the general instructions for my friend.

:eek:I stumbled on how to move a picture now to figure out how to add the second one after I edited the post.

I also finally have all the blocks finish from a UFO I started in 2015 now to figure out what to do with them.
Could not figure it out so here it is, just saw I had additional options reduced, O-well.

zozee 01-29-2020 07:11 PM

Update at 33

Our tally is now at 33, thanks to Dedemac’s cool Halloween topper.

cherrybsixty 01-29-2020 07:22 PM

Good evening everyone, congratulations Dedemac on your small finish. Good luck on moving those pix around. I love the way you encourage the other riders in the caboose to stay with it to join the club car riders.

I am sorting my stash to prep it for the move and as usual I found another UFO, sandwiched and ready to join the group to go to the LA. I really got to shop for some batting for a couple of these unfinished numbers. I don't know if I am getting ahead or behind

Happy sewing everyone

oksewglad 01-29-2020 09:01 PM

Thanks for everyone's kind words. I am sorry to say that Sis is no longer able to sew. I have 2 more donation quilts of hers mailed to me this week. She has always been a beautiful piecer..her work sew precise.

Oh Dedemac...love those 2015 BOM blocks!

Keep it up folks...don't think I'll get the binding on the big UFO done before Saturday...life gets in the way!

zozee 01-30-2020 05:31 AM

Motorcyclemad just sent a PM to say she finished 2 . She’ll try to post pictures later.

The total now stands at 35 and we have today and tomorrow to go! I hope to get one in myself.

We are rockin’ this UFO challenge!

grann of 6 01-30-2020 05:46 AM

Wow! Everyone is doing great. i have pulled out the dreaded pineapple blocks from last summer. i see I had the centers of 7 started, so i had to pull out the directions for the template. i got 2 more rows on, have a feeling this will be a slow process. i like to do things the chain piecing way, or some way that I am not doing one at a time. i don't know that it is any faster, but it makes for a less boring project, and feels good when several blocks are finished at once. If I can get this YFO finished in Feb, it will be a giant accomplishment for me. So that is my goal.... to finish the pineapple top in Feb.

zozee 01-31-2020 05:32 PM

I finished a UFO that only needed one corner of binding fixed. It languished in the closet, a small baby quilt that I intended to donate years ago. But that dern corner...!

Now our group total is at 36. I hope someone else is almost finished with another UFO on this last night of the month.

Dedemac 01-31-2020 06:31 PM

Thank you Oksewglad - most of the piecing has been hand work. I used the machine on the paper pieced blocks and attaching the border strips. I'm trying to stretch my abilities and learn new stuff.

You are welcome, if we don't challenge ourselves we stand still.

I'm trying to challenge myself with color. Yesterday at work a customer came in with an off the wall quilt that I loved. I am a traditional color palette gal...like the earth tones of KT, Kim Diehl, Jo Morton etc. This piece was Hour Glass blocks alternated with a framed 9P on pointed. The colors were so far from my safe zone and the patterns geometric mixed with florals. But I loved what she was doing. The piece that she had finished was going to be the center medallion (on point) and she was looking for a background to set in the corners. It was quite a search to find not only the right color, but the right compatible fabric design. Okay long story, but I have a piece of wild fabric about 12 x 42 that is my design inspiration for a quilt following her lead. I've been going through odds and ends of fabric to see what I come up with. Just not sure what's going to come of it, but I'm ready to give it a try! Just hope it doesn't become a UFO, but may be a long term WIP!

Krisb 01-31-2020 07:57 PM

No way I can add to the total this month (still in the midst of Frolic Frenzy). Will have at least one next month, and am hoping for three.

Ladies, more terrific finishes. Thank you for sharing your pictures. They are very inspiring.

I have one more finish for you. And, sadly, but happily, it will be the last for a bit. I will leaving to go out of town soon to babysit my grands for about 6 weeks. Their baby sitter is going on maternity leave. So, I volunteered to fly up and babysit till after Easter. I'm hoping that I can get 3 more quilts mailed out to the wonderful person who longarms them for me. But, they are not UFO's. They are current finishes. Hopefully, I will be able to add more to your tally later in the year.

So, this last quilt is another quilt from the Scrappy Hunter Star Block exchange in November 2016. I saved all the pastel ones to go into their own quilt. (Believe it or not, I exchanged so many, that I still have enough for one more quilt. Maybe I can finish that later in the year.)

zozee 01-31-2020 08:14 PM

That’s really pretty, Judith. I’m sure you’ll be a big help to your daughter and make good memories with your grandchildren.

We are now at 37.

The clock is ticking down to midnight EST. Who can finish one in the next 46 minutes ??

rryder 02-01-2020 04:23 AM

Very pretty Judith. Have fun babysitting the grands!

thanks for keeping the tally Zozee. Looks like we really rocked January- lets keep up the momentum for Feb!

I still have half the binding to sew down to the back of a UFO that I had hoped to finish last night, but twas not to be. I’ll finish it tomorrow to add to the Feb. tally.

Rob
