Marcia, you are a valuable part of the group! I always love seeing what you do, and when you change it to make it your own we get to be inspired by your creativity!

Battle Axe 10-01-2017 01:28 AM

What a wonderful compliment. Thanks.

I"m working on something completely different than what Debbie has given us. I'll put a pic on my profile. It's all done in browns, blacks, golds and coppers, but it is still a sampler set on point.

My Monday block showed up this a.m. But I thought last Wednesday was Thursday and I'm glad someone straightened me out or I would have been a day early to the Master Gardener meeting.

Funny, Marcia! I love that log cabin block, too...

Belfrybat 10-02-2017 09:24 AM

Thank you for the heads-up. I was able to download #2 and #3. I think I'll make those and then do #1 on my own. 99 cents is cheap enough, but a churn dash center is easy to make even without a pattern. Anyone doing these scrappy? I might do that for the centers then use 4 or 5 colours for the stars.

That sounds cool, Belfry....

Marcia, Thanks for the laughs! :-) Those were funny to read. Both jokes can be so true for a lot of us in this hobby! :-p

frustratedquilter40 10-02-2017 10:33 PM

My email for block 3 went to my spam folder this week never has done that before. At least I didn't delete my spam tab like I usually do without looking to see what is in it.

Battle Axe 10-03-2017 02:21 AM

I have been admiring your Peace and Healing quilts. I did not appear on the scene until that was history. So this a.m. Debbie had some CDs on sale and I bought the P & H one. That should keep me busy for a while as the blocks are quite small, aren't they??

So what does everyone else do in the face of such tragedy? I buy more fabric. Went to two quilt shops yesterday and bought half a yard at one and 6 3/4 at the other. I had plenty of time to look at this one Amish place and she had some of the honeysuckle fabric by Blank Quilting. I bought 3 more colors. That makes 7 colors.

I think buying fabric is an excellent way to channel your energy or anger or what ever is boiling up inside you. But that is my opinion and I have no one to answer to.

Well I finally got to work on #3. I'm going to maybe lose a point on the bottom edge. I haven't trimmed it up yet. My neutrals were delivered 2 days ago so I can start on my alternate bocks this weekend. I don't like waiting and doing them all at the end. Gets to boring. I'll make a few at a time through out the process. Hope you enjoy the picture and post some of your too. I love seeing them.:):)

sewbizgirl 10-06-2017 12:08 PM

So pretty, Mary!

Battle Axe 10-06-2017 02:32 PM

Sewbizgirl take a look at my profile, and everyone else. I've got my latest project half done and on there.

Jaiade 10-06-2017 04:26 PM

Mary, I really like how your blocks are coming along. Btw, I think one of your logs is in the wrong place.
I have all my alternate blocks done in purple & black. Ran out of purple; was using the same fabric for the "chains". So haven't done the half blocks. Looking for something that is close in color and discovered there is a blue undertone to it, so it might be a problem. The funny thing about this is I had at least 30 choices to pick from in my stash and I pick one that is not enough. And that was after calculating how much I would need.
I have also joined this block of the week. I have the first three blocks and all of the alternate blocks finished. I bought the kit and the colors are gorgeous! I have also started making the blocks from my stash for as second one in blue and yellow. I have to figure out how to post pictures.

Abigail's Mimi 10-06-2017 06:45 PM

Someone asked the question of putting the fabric in bags. I followed Debbie's directions and put each blocks fabric in a separate bag before the direction for the blocks were posted. It has been so easy to just pull the bag for the current block and have the fabric needed ready to be sewed.

Hi Abigail's Mimi, we sure hope you learn how to post pictures! Would love to see your blocks in the kit fabrics.

If you see a bar above the reply box with a row of icons, click on the icon that is a little tree in a frame. Then a box will open for image uploading. Click on 'from computer', then 'browse'. All of your pictures should open. Double click on the one you want and then you you can click 'upload file'. Before you double click on your photo, reduce the size. This website will reject pictures that are too big. Right click on your photo, then scroll down to "resize photos" and left click on that. When a new box opens, select "small" and then hit 'ok'. Upload the small version of your photo. It will look the same on the website, not smaller, but will take up less space. Good luck!

lawsonmugs 10-07-2017 07:04 AM

OMG I did put the upper bar on wrong, it should be on the bottom. In my pictures the colors look red but are really a rust color. I can't believe I did that. No wonder it look odd. lol. leave it to me. Have a good day ladies.

Jaiade 10-08-2017 02:56 PM

Success! Thank Sewbizgirl. Now to figure out the emogis and adding signature.:o

lawsonmugs 10-08-2017 03:50 PM

Nice block Jaide. I don't remember how I added my signature or I would help you.

lawsonmugs 10-08-2017 03:53 PM

Click on settings in the black bar on the top of this screen. Then click on edit signature.

sewbizgirl 10-08-2017 04:15 PM

Nice alternate block, Jan! And I'm glad you were able to resize and upload pics. This board just wouldn't be any fun without them!

Jaiade 10-08-2017 04:41 PM

Thanks Mary. You're right sewbizgirl, I do a lot of reading, but I also look for that paperclip first!
I kind of took my colors from a recent post on this board and decided I could make it with a black background various shades of purple with red, pink & blue accents. Hope it works.

I did the summer sew along in 30's prints and it turned out Great.

I think anything you use will be good. Use what you have this pattern is good for using scraps and odds and ends up.

Ok here is my block #2 had some issues but it I'd good enough for me now. Also finished alternate blocks as well.

Well I got this weeks block done today. Lots of little pieces. It's a pretty block though. I keep forgetting to starch and press it before taking a picture.

kristijoy 10-10-2017 05:20 PM

Oh these are such wonderful blocks! Sorry I missed the sign-up in September! I love the different fabrics you all are working with! Wonder if I could still sign-up? I clicked on the link and it says 'free'...guess I'm missing where the 99 cents comes in....

lawsonmugs 10-11-2017 08:38 AM

The 99 cents is for each block you missed. We are only on block 4 so you would only need to buy the first 3 blocks at 99 cents each. Then the rest will be sent each week on Mondays for free. Hope this helped you.

kristijoy 10-13-2017 09:25 AM

Thanks! That makes sense!

kristijoy 10-13-2017 09:26 AM

Signed up! Hope I have some time next week!

Well I made this weeks block and all the large alternate blocks and got 4 of the 1/2 alternate blocks done. Whew I'm getting bored making these alternate blocks glad they are almost done. Here is a picture. I used 3 kinda light neutrals for the top and bottom logs and 3 med. neutral for the left and right sides logs. That made it only need 6 different colors of neutral.

sewbizgirl 10-17-2017 12:59 PM

Lovely Mary... love seeing your blocks.

I think it was supposed to be a maple leaf, but in fresh lilacs fabric it became a thistle bud. I'm trying to clear off some tables and projects to get ready for Bonnie Hunter's mystery. This is soooo fun, and thanks to everyone for their wonderful compliments and encouragement.

Marcia

sewbizgirl 10-17-2017 07:34 PM

Pretty thistle buds too! Great fussy cutting of the star points.

Has Bonnie Hunter posted her intro to the MQ yet... the one with colors, etc? Said I wasn't going to do it this time around, but I might have to make a quarter sized lap quilt, at least. Just to play along...
