I am actually glad that there hasnt been the showing of what it could be or look like. Some do like to see that but I tend to hurry by those so it is revealed to me by Bonnie.

Wow, I am feeling overwhelmed as I have been away from my sewing machine and won't get to these last 4 clues until after next week, plus I planned to make a larger size. But my main concern is that with all the matching sets she has in this mystery that my yardage of 1 color each will not reveal the pattern very well. Has anyone else felt they need to start adding more colors into their yardage sets?

I had also noticed the absence of guessing layouts, and wondered if it was a new rule on Quiltville, as I know quite a few people like to stay completely surprised.

Carol, as long as your yardage colors are the right value, I don't see how not having a variety of fabrics would make the pattern less visible. I think you will be fine!

I have read the clue once, now going back for a second read through. I have to test it out, but for those using Easy Angle instead of Bonnie's ruler, I think right handers will have to cut with the blue on top in order to get the trimmed dog ear in the right place.

I think this is the most mysterious mystery ever!

I have some decided guesses on the layout and I know Bonnie's general look but I'm happy to stay in the dark for now. Part of the reason I am doing this is to let go of the decision making and let things happen and trust it will be fine in the end. Again, at the worst possible outcome there will be a quilt to keep someone warm, but I think someone will really like it -- who knows, maybe that will be me and I will end up keeping it but that's not the current intention.

I digested Clue 7 as I've been working on my Clue 6 and pulled out my remaining reds to look at them... they always were a lot of small pieces and I'm not sure how well what I have left will work in keeping them in sets. (My blues are not going to be a problem, they were bigger pieces to start with.) Plenty left to make random HST, not so much to make sets. So then my eye set on the remaining bottle of red dye I have and I think I'm going to take some unsuitable yardage left and over dye it, make the pinks popping red. It would be so much easier just to go to the store! But it will be comparably easy now that the base fabrics are set.

Yesterday I was eye-balling the remaining half bag of non-set dyed fabrics and thinking of the work remaining there to fix them. The fun thing is that my initial idea for the bag uses what is remaining now, all these blues and aquas and bright reds did not go with the green/brown/orangish camo modern log cabin I see hiding in there.

Is anyone else thinking that we have an awful lot of neutrals left as Bonnie is signaling that we're nearing the finish line?

I'm so glad this was not the reveal! I'm only half-way through the FG due to having the blue already cut. I'd forgotten how tedious making FGs one at a time can be. Probably doesn't take any longer than the no-waste method, but just more tedious (and in my case more inaccurate).
I think I'm going to work on this step and then go back and finish the FG. Especially since I still have the two mysteries from NYE and NYD to finish up. I'm loving this quilting marathon, but sometime I need to come up for air to clean up the kitchen and vacuum all those dogears!

Ok. I’m wondering if it matters that I’m a leftie and hubby is a righty and he is doing the cutting and I’m doing the sewing. She sure is specific about the cutting in this step and there are different ways depending on your handed ness. Will this matter with the sewing?

I sew admire those of y'all that are keeping on track. This year just hasn't been my year to stay up to date. Waiting for the reveal now to see what it looks like. Meanwhile, I now have lots of 4 patches and HST's all scrappy.

Pamela, it sounds like successful cutting will matter when it comes time to sew, so I would say make sure hubby understands that the trimmed dog ear needs to end up in a certain position. I don't see how it could matter that you're a lefty when it comes to sewing them.

I'm trimming selvedge blocks...the instructions seem to be over my head today.
I don't have them in front of me, but simplified, is it sew 1/2 into pinwheels and don't sew the other sets at all, save for later?
