Dotty, I’ll let you know if we end up in the UK! We traveled to the UK in 1986. He was in Birmingham for a conference. So each morning, I walked to the train and took it somewhere new. I visited London on several days, Chester, Warwick, and Coventry. We visited again in 2011 with our children. We divided our time between Edinburgh and London on that trip. I love history. Walking everywhere — it was all around us.

Hi Marcia, Would be great to meet you if you do ever come over to the UK !

Oh, how I would love to visit London...or Europe in general. Dang COVID...

I stopped at a “new to me” quilt shop today...little hole in the wall and almost missed seeing its sign. However, I just couldn’t buy anything there...she had cats crawling everywhere...smelly....ugh! She explained she fosters cats. I counted 6 from 2ft in the doorway. Good for her but she should keep them home....and close her shop....Unbelievable that she felt it is ok to operate that way. She’ll have to do without my support. No thanks!

I purchased a project storage container for HJ today. Gotta keep me organized...lol

Nice to hear you have are getting organised !! Me too. Oh yuk - that shop sounds horrible - as I have slight Asthma problems, I would have run a mile !!

When we have visited Texas, I have found some amazing quilt shops and have brought over an extra suitcase to take my purchases home !! I found some wonderful shops near Grapevine, Fort Worth and Colleyville - so friendly and I would love to come back again one day !
I am still not receiving notifications from QB in my emails - I must remember to keep checking back several times a day !

That is a gorgeous block, Teen. What collection is the background fabric with the story? That is so cool.

I’m sorry I missed your question!! This was a FQ included in a bundle of low volume prints I had ordered a good long while ago and the shop is no longer in business so I couldn’t check for you. The salvage doesn’t have the collection name, either. I love using text print as a background with bright colors.

Here is my cute block on a stand....

Oh Dotty, what a sweet thought, but I don't travel any more. I've never been out of the USA with the exception of Tijuana, Mexico. I'm 74 and have the Irish disease of hemochromatosis. It has manifested itself as restless leg, osteoperosis, dreadful posture and a great case of acid reflux. I am determined to resist any replacement surgeries. No new hips, shoulders or knees for me.

I'm still debating on what to do for the background, if I want to do all the same or different. One interesting look is to do rounds of the same background so the layout ends up looking a bit like a medallion quilt.

I got to thinking and realized I've got several sampler quilts that I want to be working on. I've got Dear Jane, Nearly Insane, Dear Jen (Jen Kingwell sampler) and now Harriet's journey. I do love samplers!

Hi Cathy, I am using slightly different background fabrics.

I also love Sampler Quilts and I will ask my hubby to help me post some photos of them later !

Would you like to join me in making the blocks from Jennifer Chiaverini's new quilt book called Harriet's Journey ? I hope this is allowed for me to post this here ?

I live in the UK and love making Sampler quilts. I have already made Sylvia's Bridal Sampler and The Loyal Union Sampler and also Dear Jane by Brenda Papadakis.

You will need to buy the book to be able to join in and participants are not permitted to share copies of the book's contents, there will be no patterns given and there is no sign-up required, but I would love to hear from you if you are interested.

A schedule still has to be worked out if there is going to be one! This is open for discussion, would you like more than one block a month ? Do you want an assignment or pick your own block or blocks.

Here you can ask questions, share tips and share photos of your blocks.

I look forward to starting this journey with you !

I have read all of the Elm Creek series and LOVE Jennifer Chiaverini's books.
YES, I would like to join in. I have some medical issues and may not be able to start and/or keep up, but I would like to be included so as I can be a part and catch up if I do get behind.

Hello Little Lulu,
Welcome along, pleased you want to join us. There is absolutely no pressure - make blocks when you can and have a break when you need to !!
Take care of yourself and the first blocks will be on Saturday 13th March !!

Macybaby, I'm working on Dear Jen, too, but adding in my guild's 6" blocks of the month. I'm finding the Dear Jen blocks quite difficult as I hate using templates. Would rather rotary cut or paper piece. I'm looking forward to HJ for that reason.
