Did I tell you you would love to make one yourself Teen? If not: you would love it!!! LOL

What size are the tiny pinwheels? They are so cute...

Anael 04-05-2019 08:43 AM

They're 2 "finished. I used HST from flying geese as enders and used those to make the pinwheels. One of them I cut the wrong way but used it anyway :D

This is beyond my skill level - and I probably have no business trying these blocks but I Love them so!! I have Quilt Lovely - I have never made my own pattern before. Like a few of the writers here I buy patterns to set myself up for success. On my table right now is Daybreak (Cozy Quilt Co).
The block I can't stop dreaming about is Glitter. I am determined (through all the fear and confusion) - that this will be my next quilt somehow. I photo copied the pattern that was in the back of the book. I figures out that the squares are 1 1/4 (so would be 1 3/4 cut I guess?) and the cones? I just drew on to template plastic and then went around the shape 1/4 inch away - I then cut out the shape on those new 1/4 inch away lines. I did the same for the 4 side pieces. I cut some scrap fabric for all of the pieces....I am terrified to sew them because if they don't come out right.....well this is the only idea I have on how to do it :-( I took a picture of Daybreak (almost finished with that top) - and then a picture of where I am at with the Glitter pieces. I would be forever grateful for any advice, instructions, anything really am I on the right track or is there a way to do this that is....well normal :-)Thanks from Kansas.

Welcome Littlecanvases to our Kingwell world :)

Love your Daybreak! As you have noticed the Kingwell patterns aren't that straight forward ;) But you're well on your way! Are you a member of Facebook? There's a Jen Kingwell Designs Group and in that group is a tut how to sew the Glitter pieces. It's all Y seams.........you're very brave!!
I have to leave in a few minutes and won't be home today so I can't help you any further right now.
If I was sewing the Glitter block I would sew two squares together, then the cone shape, the center squares and the other two squares and cone shape. Then the side pieces with the Y seams. Sounds easy doesn't it!
Show us your progress and don't hesitate to ask!!

Anael ~ Since you have had experience making a few different Jen Kingwell patterns, I have a question for you: Which would be the better choice for a First-timer like myself ... Gypsy Wife or My Small World? I already purchased the GW pattern, but now that I see the beginnings of your MSW quilt I am in love with that whimsical pattern and tempted to buy. Do either of these patterns involve Y seams? Not my cup of tea!
