To Casamanana -- I have loved quilting (reading about and buying fabric for my "stash" and imagining myself doing!) ever since I played the part of the mother in a community production of "Quilters" in Simi Valley, California several years ago. However, I haven't made many quilts (you'd never guess that by the amount of fabric I have and how-to books!). I now live in Colorado Springs close to you in Palmer Park. I'd love to have you for a mentor--someone to encourage me to quilt, not just think about it! I guess I'm afraid to fail (in the sewing department). I love to design, though. If you think you'd like to be my "mom", let me know! Thanks, WLee

You appear to be posting fine. And I had a message from you a while back.

If there is something I missed please re-send it.

BoJo 03-15-2010 03:28 PM

Are any messages being posted on the quilting board? I have not had any all day.

CasaManana 03-15-2010 04:25 PM

I'd love to adopt you!!

sewcrafty 03-16-2010 02:25 AM

One of my daughters just recently had this problem. She accidently hit the quilting board with the spam button. Were you getting rid of spam and maybe accidently hit this button?

BoJo 03-16-2010 05:11 AM

I do not have any idea. How do I check or correct this problem. I probably locked/blocked something accidentally.

BoJo 03-16-2010 05:20 AM

Please help. When I clik on Forum Rule--How to Use the Forum--please read
(LOCKED) (in red) (I do not know how to type it in with red in)

How do I correct this problem? Where do i go?

Thank you for any assistance.

howard anne baumann 03-16-2010 06:24 AM

sewmuchmore 03-16-2010 06:32 AM

I think this is a great idea!

brushandthimble 03-16-2010 01:14 PM

Sugarpumpkin, I love your avatar

tkhooper 03-16-2010 01:14 PM

Sometimes it helps to post those things you are interested in and want help with when quilting. And if you look back over the posts maybe you'll see someone who wants to teach exactly what you want to learn.

While we are on that subject. Is there a tute on color choices?

Sugarpumpkin 03-16-2010 01:23 PM

brushandthimble... Thanks :) I love it too! I just had to have it when I saw it :)

DannyValentine 03-16-2010 02:37 PM

I am definitely up for adoption. I just finished the first set of blocks for my log cabin quilt.

MadQuilter 03-16-2010 04:22 PM

Sugarpumpkin, I sent you a pm. Wanna be my Quilting Buddy?

lkcantwell 03-16-2010 05:31 PM

I have just purchased EQ5 software on eBay. I'm just starting on the lessons. Any suggestions you might have would be greatly appreciated. Do you suggest scanning in all my fabric? This could be a tremendous challenge alone.

thanks in advance...Linda in Central Texas who is grieving today over the loss of yesterday of my 10-1/2 year old rat terrier named Sparky due to liver disease. I'm really lost without him and feel the need to learn the software to create a quilt in his memory.

I am new to quilting and have just finished my very first quilt. It was a simple nine patch on point to fit a queensize bed. I machine pieced and hand quilted it. I am now hooked!!!! I would love to team up with a 'buddyquilter' I think that is a fantastic idea as I also like to share my knowledge of painting, which I teach. I am interested in country and nieve type quilts and would like to design my own, when I say that I mean very simple ones to begin with. I also am interested in creating quilts from recycled fabrics, there in lies my challenge! I also make hooked rugs from recycled fabrics and I guess quilting was a natural progression from that. Hope there is someone out there who likes doing the same things as I do.

I think we need a tute on color choices. I could use help in that area. Please, please, someone who is an expert, could you help us???

Jeri M 03-18-2010 02:50 PM

I obviously need to be adopted. I have no idea what all of the initials stand for!!! I have gone beyond the normal 9 patch, and miter corners quite well (thanks to step by step instructions from sister and internet.)

I would love to learn paper piecing and many other things.

Jeri M 03-18-2010 02:52 PM

oops
placed it in there twice
obviously need more than quilting help......lol

Quilting Nonnie 03-19-2010 02:29 PM

I want to adopt someone!!!

I love block quilting and am kinda' traditional, but also love the batiks and all the cool stuff you can do with them.
I can paper piece and actually really, really like it.
I can handquilt, but am too new at it to be too much help.
I can do very little MQ, so no help there.
I love country applique, either by hand or machine.
I think the hardest quilt I've done so far is a Lone Star.
My favorite color is blue, but I won't hold it against you if yours is not!

I'm a grandma, a dog and cat lover, don't like any domestic activity to interrupt my quilting, but then feel guilty about house being a mess! My hubby and I celebrated our 21st anniversary yesterday. He's my second and he's a keeper! I live above San Francisco, CA and have kids who live on the East Coast; how dare they!

I hope someone wants me to be their mommy.

tkhooper 03-20-2010 05:50 AM

I did the best I could to make a color choice tutorial. Here is the link.

jolo 03-20-2010 06:36 AM

I dearly love teaching newbies, or anyone who needs a helping hand. I have been quilting and piecing for lo these many years and have made at least a thousand quilts. I am still learning also. It is an ongoing thing. I mostly do hand piecing and quilting. But I also do machine. In fact going to the machine more and more since I am a VERY senior citizen.I still have so many I want to make. lol jolo

turtlerouge 03-20-2010 11:19 AM

hey, im a newby can i be adopted too? turtlerouge

Jshep 03-21-2010 06:43 AM

Wow Jolo. I bet you have hundreds of ideas that a lot of newbies here could use. Could you list the most important things and maybe4 post pictures of what you are talking about?

jolo 03-21-2010 07:46 AM

I think probably the most important first thing is cutting and then the same size seam. I know 1/4 is what the quilt police say ,and I agree with that, but some new sewers find they cant do this til they buy a foot for the machine. It will make a difference in the size the block finishes. Does thia make sense.?

turtlerouge 03-21-2010 08:28 AM

im missing my momma
