Starlite, if you haven't been adopted yet, I would love to be your mommy! BTW my parents used to live in Charlotte when my dad worked for Graybell.

brushandthimble 03-08-2010 09:13 AM

farnsworth, beautiful job! I love the trees!

Open invitation; farnsworth (my quilting daughter) and I will be doing the 2009 BOM Pioneer blocks, starting in a week or two. PM me if you are interested in sewing along with us. I will be the "MOM" for this project.

These blocks would look great in 1800 repro's or put a new twist on them and make them in batik.

Panther Creek Quilting 03-08-2010 09:28 AM

I have adopted BoJo and am going to work on paper piecing with her. She is looking at patterns and then we will get started! So great to have children that don't potty in their pants, LOL ( mine actual ones are still little).

...as we get older, you never know.lol
That's why I'm a Quilting Buddy, not a Mommy. hehe

Pamala 03-08-2010 10:59 AM

Sounds like fun. Where can I find the patterns for these block? Is this something a newby can handle?

QuiltingGrannie 03-08-2010 11:24 AM

I'm a Mommy!
I just adopted jshep!

She is brand new and has lots of scraps! Fun Fun fun!

2wheelwoman 03-08-2010 11:26 AM

I finally found the right place to put myself up for adoption. I've been mostly self-taught, and would like a mom who could go over the basics with me and maybe I'll find better ways of doing things. I'd also like to do a pp quilt and would like a little help to get me started. I should be a pretty low-maintanence child.

craftybear 03-08-2010 05:59 PM

I started a new thread for us to learn beginner quilting lessons on this board

http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-38979-1.htm

also if you have any cool links for beginners lets post them here so we can all enjoy

yourstrulyquilts 03-08-2010 06:10 PM

Awesome, CB!! I'm assuming we'll still "talk" on this thread?

Sounds like a plan to me. Have an appt. right at the moment but will get with you later. I am so glad someone will give me the opportunity to expand my lastest endevor. Later.

brushandthimble 03-10-2010 05:04 PM

I have three adoptees that will be doing the BOM of 2009, the Pioneer Sampler. I will open a thread on the board shortly. We are looking to start in a couple of weeks so commitments can be completed and gotten out of the way.

I was thinking of doing like a picture frame around the medallion, I then how to do the other blocks with sashing?

sas10 03-10-2010 09:25 PM

Scrap quilter : I must apologize to you and Quilting B. I misread the posting. I thought you were referring to me when you said you wanted to connect. I was in a hurry for an appt. and didn't think before I typed. This whole set up has me confused anyway. I really need to set down and concentrate on the computer. Please accept my apology. S Sutherland

cutebuns 03-10-2010 09:40 PM

SSutherland, I would be happy to adopt you, I will try to help you anyway that you need me to,

tkhooper 03-11-2010 04:30 AM

Wow Karen. That's a really cool quilt. I see how sashing is going to be interesting with the pieces that lie outside of the square.

Well here is my very first post. I am a real beginner. A great friend from Arkansas, showed me how she made wedding gifts for family by learning how to quilt the log cabin block. She was very kind to show me how to do it. I bought the supplies, was camping in Florida and from magazines and what my dear friend taught me I began sewing the blocks by hand. Not great but I was proud that I could even understand the directions. I would love to be adopted by a quilter, as I want to learn all I can and pass on to my daughter and four granddaughters.
Thank you for a wonderful place to learn. :XD: :?:

Pillow from scraps that friend gave me: also bought squares to practice potholders before I do a quilt.

Gorgeous blocks. I love the idea of doing various designs.

brushandthimble 03-11-2010 05:48 AM

cute projects.

oragefrog 03-11-2010 05:54 AM

Now I see how gorgeous all of your efforts are; I'm a bit embarrassed to have put pics up. I see I am off point and not even on anything. Oh well, someone might like to adopt a sad case? :-( :-D

murphy412 03-11-2010 06:36 AM

I'm a newbie, but here's an interesting story about a non-newbie. http://travelwitwist.blogspot.com/20...-stitches.html

I need all the help you can give me. I have learned a lot by read everyone's questions. And looking at all the tutorials that are posted. And here is a quilt top I just completed. There are a few errors in it but a far better than my frist one I did on my own.

PALS65 03-11-2010 07:31 AM

I would love to adopt a "newbie". I am new to the board but have been quilting for 18 years. My favorite part is piecing. I do quilt my small project but send my big ones to a long arm quilter. Right now my favorite thing to work on is miniature quilts. Please let me know if I can help you.
