If working with PMs you can't send images, can you?

We exchanged email addresses. That way, we can send images as well as converse...

I don't know whether anyone is still looking for a 'mentor/mom' but I would love to help. I don't have a daughter in real life and would love one in cyberspace (or a son???). I have been quilting for 40+ years and have done just about every different kind of other needlework there is. I'm not great at FMQ but am working at it. I do applique, machine & hand, PP, Cotton Theory (I think it's much like Fun & Done), and both machine and hand quilting, athough my hand quilting is not up to Alex Anderson standards. I'm not great at doing things on the computer. I have taken lots of classes and love to share what I have learned. I have a Janome 4000 and a Pfaff Creative Vision that I am still learning how to use. Is there still someone out there waiting to be adopted and would like me for their 'Mom'? I would be honored.

You can be my quilting mom:) I am a new quilter and I am working on a baby quilt for my daughter (not expecting yet) but I thought if I started now, I could have one or 2 done by the time she is. The quilt I am working on now is a special project. My mother loved to imbroider. She started a project for me several years ago and then her eyes got too bad to finish the blocks. She passed away 2 years ago and I found the blocks when we were sorting out her things. I finished embroidering the last 2 blocks and decided to turn them into a baby quilt for my daughter (she was very close to her grandma). I finished putting the top together, hand quilter around the embroidered hearts but now I'm not real sure how to finish the outer edges. I sure need a mom right now! If you choose to take me on, you can email me directly at [email protected]. Sincerely, Pamala

I don't claim to be an expert, but I have been at this for about 10 years. I would be glad to have an "adopted quilting sister" and share what I can.

Lucille

quilter2 03-05-2010 04:45 PM

Adopt me...Last night I posted that I wanted to be adopted by someone, tonight I'm checking back but I don't know if someone did adopt me. Please help.

blueribbontoes 03-05-2010 04:50 PM

I am by no means an expert, but I could teach someone to needle turn applique. I'll send weekly hand written tutorials and examples. :)

PLEASE HELP!

The response has been fantastic. But if you want to join you need to pm me.

So members if someone is asking to join please direct them to my pm. Also if you have come to an agreement for adoption please pm me.

I'm having a hard time getting them all from the board. I end up doing the work three or four times by the time I see the adoptee and the mommies posts on the board and then get pm's from one or both. Sometimes multiple pms because we are in different time zones and I've been asleep and haven't responded quickly.

I know your all very excited and I love that. Just be patient with me. I'm typing as fast as I can. lol.

tkhooper 03-06-2010 05:27 AM

We have desided that multiple mommies are GREAT! So i need to do a major revamp on the list. I'll be putting back in everyones skills and wishes. With over 80 members this is going to take some time. Please give me 24hours from 8:00a.m. this morning to complete them. Then the list should be accurate again.

I'll keep you posted as best I can.

I would love to learn needle turn applique! I promise to be an attentive student, and send you my pieces for progress reports... Please, please, pick me <<waving my arms>>

blueribbontoes 03-06-2010 05:35 AM

Quilt Mom, you've been adopted! Wooo hoo! I will get some goodies ready to mail you so we can work on something together. :) I will pm tkhooper so she knows.

Quilt Mom 03-06-2010 05:45 AM

Thanks Blueribbontoes! I am soooooo excited.

tkhooper 03-06-2010 09:50 AM

I'll be getting to the pm's right after I take care of my diabetes. Thank you all for being so patient with me.

MonkeeGirl 03-06-2010 01:01 PM

YIPEE!!! Gwyn has agreed to adopt me!! I know this is fate as my dear Moma (passed away 5 years ago) was also named Gwen.

I hope I don't end up being too much of a challenge.

Thanks quilting moma Gwyn!!

tkhooper 03-06-2010 01:20 PM

I'm all caught up so if you check our group activity you should be able to see who has been adopted and who hasn't. There are both moms and children looking for someone. So keep checking. I know the perfect person is out there somewhere.

My shoulder is still alittle knotted, but maybe later I'll list those who haven't found the right person yet.

brushandthimble 03-06-2010 04:14 PM

Way to go, "daughter" and "Mommies"!
anyone ready to post pictures of what you have been working on?

cutebuns 03-06-2010 05:06 PM

I did not read all 24 pages, but I am up for adopting someone, if I don't know what you are looking for I am a quick study for most things, about the only think that I wouldn't be able to teach.

tkhooper 03-06-2010 05:23 PM

my project is http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-37059-1.htm. This is where I have choosen different types of quilt techniques and given them a try.

I didn't know that I couldn't enlarge the pictures without them going all blurry. sorry about the picture quality.
