Last week I finished my QAYG quilt... This is for my DIL
|
Now that's lovely! Ya did a great job.
|
Wow DeneK! That looks great. I like how you changed the joining/sashing fabric for the main quilt and the borders.
|
Nice quilts DeneK & Bev. I've almost finished mine & hope to post a picture of the finished product within the week.
|
I'm coming along...just the border left

I joined this group (at least in my head) when I saw what you were doing because I had a bunch of blocks that I had made into crazy blocks but using my started or half finished blocks as the base of each block.
Here is my QAYG without borders yet. Hope to finish it completely this week. I wanted to add that I made my blocks a bit wonky, so you can see cut off edges of 9 patches. It is because I just kept adding to the block using scraps of fabric til they were over 16" square and then trimmed them down. |
justflyingin--this is a very colorful quilt! Great job getting it all together. :)
|
DeneK...your ladies look so prim and proper. You've done a beautiful job.
Justflyingin...what a creative way to use orphan blocks. I really like how it turned out. |
justflyingin - I love you quilt. I have been doing large scrappy squares for the women at our church. Now I might try to put one together using the QAYG method. Thanks for the inspiration.
|
these quilts are beautiful !! Isn't QAYG fun and satisfying???
I am still trying to get back into the groove of quilting again. Been busy working on commissioned work for extra $$. |
Justflyingin, love what you did with your blocks & love the backing too! Very Nice.
|
Justflyingin That's just darlin'!

As I have caught up on reading from being MIA for a month. I have to say I see a lot of beautiful finished QAYG quilted projects. I'm going to wait until spring comes around again before I embark on any new QAYG techniques. But am always willing to share my experiences and knowledge. I hope you all enjoyed the several projects and techniques we covered this summer. And I thank everyone for their input and sharing as we learned to QAYG together.
Have an awesome day. Jen |

Today I finished my State Star Quilt. I've had my blocks finished for a while but couldn't decide how to put them all together. I used the Quilt As You Go Block Method & am very happy with the results. I SID in most of the blocks & around the sashing. It is a very heavy quilt so I know it will keep us warm this winter. Here are pictures of the front & back of it.
Thank you Jenniky for starting this Thread. Looking forward to seeing more from you in the Spring! |
{iggle} I think I like the back better {bwahahahaha} - you did a great job, Patricia!!
|
Jen - Take your time, we will wait patiently for ya ta pick this back up. We aren't goin' anywhere.
Patricia - that is lovely! |
You gals' projects are turning out soooo pretty! Patricia Faye, your star quilt is a stunner! I only made the first dozen or so...I'm so behind!
Jen, thanks for all your hard work...now on to some holiday projects, huh? |
Patricia--very pretty quilt. I like the combination of the light and dark backgounds. I have been following the 50 stars thread on and off.
|
Patricia, I think your stars are beautiful!
|
Patricia - beautiful quilt. Wasn't it fun creating the back too? I love that part of QAYG creativity.
Jenniky - you take whatever time you need. I, personally, appreciate your hard work by presenting these tutorials. Maybe I can actually get some quilts made while waiting for your next technique LOL |

This is a quilt I just finished for my SIL. I used a new technique for the main section then the traditional one (what we're learning now) to attach the borders.
I don't want to be limited to only quilt patterns that can use the connecting strips so want to learn other variations which I'm sure Jenniky will cover as time goes by. This technique is a bit harder to work with because you're working with larger chunks of sandwiches but is still do-able. I'm only posting this now to show that you can use different techniques to complete the quilt. Besides, I'm quite proud of this quilt since it's 95% made from scraps and not cut-down fabrics. The only fabric I had to buy was the border. |
I sort of sped read most of the comments. I am anxious to try this method. Thanks so much for posting this tut and for all of you posting you work. Just Beautiful!

I believe UFOs are like scraps, ferns and dust bunnies. Once you get two, they send spores out into the air and more just happen anywhere the spores meet. Isn't this the truth???????????!!!!!!!!!!! :) |

Here it is. A truly "orphaned" blocks challenge. I did make them into larger 16" blocks first by adding scraps around them, then trimming them wonky.
|
Justflyingin, your quilt turned out wonderful. I especially love the back of it. WTG!
|
Justflyinin...what a fun quilt. It turned out really cute.

NICE! this is very timely, I am working on using QAYG for a few things.
Here is a link to the blog where you can see one ongoing project (368 blocks project) and a recently completed project using QAYG, a wallhanging. http://indigoatworkandplay.blogspot.com/ I am also thinking about locating a UFO project I started a couple of years ago, where I didnt know ANYTHING about QAYG and kind of got lost. This would be a great thread to share that with! And this blog is AMAZING :) :) :) |

Don't have any in progress but one recently finished baby quilt...great to practice FMQing. Quick and easy ... But this was not with sashing but the other method, similar to fun and done.
Have done with sashing also. Both methods are great! |
