Everyone's quilts are beautiful! I have my first QAYG project finished except for the binding and a second one in progress. Will post pics when finished. I'm so happy to have learned this method...thanks again Jenniky! Looking forward to the next one.

nclauri 10-21-2012 01:38 PM

I posted a question on a new thread about QAYG a few weeks ago and then found this thread. I am so glad I did! I have read every single post. I am doing the Craftsy BOM and wanted to try the QAYG method on that. I just finished my last block and have cut some of the backing squares, but need more fabric. Once I get all of my backing fabric I am starting on this with the help of this thread. I love this forum and all the people who so generously offer their time and talent to help others. Thanks.

JeanieG,

I love your quilts! Both of them. You chose nicely on the sashing colors too...makes them look really neat.

JeanieG 10-22-2012 11:27 AM

Thank you for the kind compliments everyone. I am pleased with them, and so glad to get them out of my UFO stack!

Liz92B 10-27-2012 12:37 PM

JeanieG 10-27-2012 01:18 PM

Oh, I am jealous! Have a wonderful day!!!!

dublb--that looks great! How many blocks are there?

dublb 11-17-2012 09:16 AM

There are 32 quilted blocks & one unquilted. I figure that I will do 'em 5x6 & then do a border. If she wants a border. I'm gonna talk ta the lady & see if she wants ta make pillows or wants ta frame the others.

Here is what I got done. I then e-mailed it ta the lady. She likes it, so I'll do all o' the others now.

charlottemarie 11-18-2012 09:46 PM

Jenniky, sorry I got behind on reading the posts. My Sue and Sam were blocks that were just laying around and wondering what to do with them. Thank you for the nice comments.

Hi I just found this thread and still have to go back and read it all . I live in Western Australia and just did this mile a minit qayg with the scraps from a new york beauty. I quilted it on my embroidery machine .two first with this one!!!

rwquilts 11-19-2012 06:16 AM

How beautiful Lisa! Love, love, love the color choices!

Dublb, what cute sunbonnet sue's. Shes such a happy girl and has been around a long time...keep showing us pics as you progress. :)

qltgrose 11-19-2012 06:58 AM

Not sure that my orphan blocks will qualify, since ultimately I hope to create a large curtain to hang from my ceiling to cover/protect my fabric stash wall. However I do have some orphan blocks that I have been toting around for at least 15 yrs and I am now working on how to set them. I have a set plain amish color/black bowtie blocks and a set of attic windows that are in various prints (this was from a very misguided swap group!) and I want to join them together with alot of black fabric (hoping the black will form a miracle). I have tried QAYG in the past and didnt like all the hand stitching on the back to cover my block by block work. Are you doing something different than that Jenny?

LisaR very pretty. I finally finished my first QAYG quilt. Here are pictures of the front and back.

JeanieG 12-01-2012 06:25 PM

That turned out real beautiful ssnare! The blue really sets off those blocks! Isn't it fun to get one of our UFO's out of the stack!

ssnare 12-01-2012 06:40 PM

Thank you JeanieG. This was a surprise quilt, I had not planned on working on these blocks. I never knew what to do with them. LOL.

Patricia Faye 12-01-2012 11:27 PM

ssnare, you did a great job on your QAYG! Love your blocks.

carriem 12-02-2012 05:40 AM

ssnare--pretty quilt...I like the front and back too!

rwquilts 12-02-2012 07:46 AM

Ssnare, your quilt turned out beautifully! Great job! It's inspiring to see people finish quilts and have large quilts when done! Gives me the urge to continue on after the holidays are done and Christmas sewing and baking are finished. Thank you for sharing!

Surfergirl 12-02-2012 11:05 AM

Everyone's quilts have turned out beautiful! I still have to post a pic of my first QAYG...the second one isn't finished yet. There just isn't enough hours in the day to do everything...hopefully, I will be able to get back to my quilting soon.

Whooo Hooo!!! I did it! I finished 2 quilts using the QAUG you introduced us to Jenny. The purple one I started before you published your method and when mine was not coming together too well, I switched in midstream so it has it's own character but my DH likes it. I have a couple more QAUG projects lined up now that I have been successful with these. THANK YOU, JENNY!!!

Patricia Faye 12-06-2012 02:59 PM

ssnare 12-08-2012 07:07 PM

Thank you all for your comments. gardnergal970, your quilts came out great.

Muv 12-09-2012 03:08 AM

Oh my goodness, what fabulous quilts! I haven't checked this thread for ages - so much has happened since then! Jenniky, you really got everybody going!

I've been using a method Leah Day shows on one of her videos and jiggled around with the measurements a bit - so far so good...

rwquilts 12-10-2012 06:20 AM

Gardnergal, what a great job you did on your adorable quilts! :)

gardnergal970 12-10-2012 09:22 AM

Thanks everyone. My next project is coming out of the box today. I love the look this process gives.

DOTTYMO 12-24-2012 08:26 AM

I did a double wedding ring quilt as you go 9 sections and with 9 blocks in 8 of the sections. They were joined in set of 3 and finally altogether. If I can find my run of photoes making it are they any use to you experiments. I join in cubes on top.

Jen, I'm going to join in so I can learn the QAYG techniques. I have lots of paper pieced blocks (in different sizes) from block swaps that I want to put into a quilt & I have the State Star blocks to put together. I think I'll practice on the swaps first then after I feel comfortable will work on the State Stars.

Here are some of the blocks. I think I have enough to select from and enough in the same sizes to practice on.

Love your blocks.

I definitely want ta see your picts. Can ya show us how ya did it?

rvsfan 02-10-2013 07:53 AM

I definitely want to be part of this but here's a dumb question - how do I follow your thread? I have purchased at least 4 books on QAYG and not one of them teaches me the technique.

dublb 02-10-2013 09:45 AM

rvsfan - Jennie was doin' this & does have several methods in this thread. Ya just have ta start at the first & scroll till ya see the picts. (Some o' the picts. are from other people showin' what they are gonna QAYG, so ya will have ta keep lookin'.) That is where she explained the several methods. She had ta stop 'cause life got in the way. I'm hoping that she will have the opportunity ta git back ta this when her life steady's out. I too have some blocks that I am doin' QAYG but my life has had it's own hic-up. I'm doin' mine a li'le bit different so I will post picts & explinations. Jenniky's plan was ta do a tute, on all the methods, when she finishes this thread.

PS This is one o' my favorite threads. :)
