Givio: I have been sorting through blue donated scraps and I found a 1.5" strip of your 10th fabric from the left in the top row. Mine is on the gray side of blue. I just thought that was funny I spotted that one in your fabric. :)

Sewbizgirl: Thanks for the definition. I have looked it up several times but my brain just didn't retain it. Lol!

RetiredTeacher09, I just looked up Civil War fabrics on Pinterest. There are loads of examples there.

SBG, It looks like you have a couple of 'double pink' prints in your block. One of these days, I'd like to collect a variety of those and sew something with them. I'm fond of those! You have plenty of "esp. neutrals"??? Lucky you! 'Especially neutrals' is what I'm generally lacking in. lol How can you keep them in stock, when they get used up so fast?

frustratedquilter40, nice to meet you again on a thread! :-) Your brown fabric gives your block wonderful movement. Lovely!

Connie, Your fussy cutting is so cute! I don't think people have to use CW fabrics. Any fabric you like is just fine. I think you have a nice start with that block. I think the fabric you saw in my picture will be fun to use. I'm sure you can incorporate your scraps if you want to. Some of the prints that I gathered are not reproduction CW prints-- just ones that I think will look good. I often find that the little calico Cranston prints from the 70's blend in nicely for projects done in various themes.

So refreshing to have a 10" block. I haven't done this size in quite awhile!

My opinion is that there will be a lot of 2 1/2" cuts used for this quilt. Oh my am I sounding committed? I have some lovely blue and yellow scraps I can use and enough coordinating fabric for a plain border.....off I go to the stash.....then back to the baby quilts....

OK, You are getting closer to jumping into the boat! :D Yay!

Givio, those two double pinks are the only pinks I have. I tried to find something to fussy cut, but it would not have been pink...

Okay....checking my fabric...seems I have a UFO project started...oh my...now to another plan....

Thanks for the Pinterest link, Sewbizgirl. That was helpful.

Givio: Thanks for the compliment on my fussy cut. I'm so glad that pink was with my other donated pink scraps and that the butterflies were a perfect fit. :). I did find another strip of that 10th pattern in your picture. I wonder if there is more hiding in a bin. I get donated fabric scraps from 2 sewing groups and sometimes I get the same fabrics from both of them over the course of time. :)

I wondered what constituted CW fabrics but how can you tell? Does it say on the bolt?

Nice block, Connie! Civil War fabrics are reproductions of actual fabrics that were used during the early to mid 1800s. You can use any fabric you like, tho. I like your batiks! The blocks will be pretty in any fabrics.

I think she said she was building the skill level each week, so this week's was very easy... just squares and HSTs. Wonder what's next?
