My goodness you are fast. I just printed my pattern out this morning. But----I love your fabric and it helps me to see what colors every one is using. Love your block and love your colors of fabric.

joe'smom 05-15-2017 09:39 AM

I just noticed this thread for the first time today. Thanks for starting the thread, sewbizgirl! It's a beautiful sampler, and I've signed up. I will not be able to sew along with you -- too much on my plate -- but will follow along and will have the block downloads for future use.

sewbizgirl 05-15-2017 11:08 AM

Hi Lisa, glad you found us!

Jane, your block 4 is just beautiful. Hope mine turns out half as nice.

lawsonmugs 05-16-2017 07:55 AM

Oh these blocks are terrific . I just love this quilt. They are all going to look so different. I cut my block 4 out and got the hst's made. Now maybe I can sew the block together today.

Oh Dotty I love the Christmas theme, so pretty. I got mine done also today. Hope the pictures work as I got a new computer with windows 10 and today a new modem. One picture is block 4 and the other is all four blocks together. OK Girls here we go......;)

lawsonmugs 05-16-2017 02:22 PM

O M G it worked. Whew...... I love seeing and posting pictures. Hope ya all do too. lol

sewbizgirl 05-16-2017 02:37 PM

Those look great, Mary! Super pretty.

Are you new to posting pics? One thing about this site is that it only posts the pics horizontally. Even if you rotate them in your files before uploading, they will appear horizontally. That's why you see so many sideways ones.

I always forget this when I'm taking pics with my phone! :hunf:

Here's my block #4... Constellation block. Turned out very Civil war-y.

sewbizgirl 05-16-2017 04:28 PM

 OOPS! I see a mistake... Don't worry, I'll fix it. :D

lawsonmugs 05-16-2017 04:45 PM

Nah I'm not new to posting pictures, just new to windows 10. I'm getting the hang of it finally. I use my camera and my pictures are not sideways. Isn't it awful how we don't catch the mistake until we post a picture. Then everyone sees it. lol. It's still so pretty. I love this picture frame look of this block.

givio 05-16-2017 06:03 PM

Oh my! Some lovely fabrics. Those browns are my favorites.

judy363905 05-16-2017 08:06 PM

Yay! The more the merrier. I think some of our lurkers are becoming persuaded to jump in and join the fun (cough-cough-JUDY-cough-cough). :D

Really, the blocks don't take that long to make... I spent about an hour on the current block. What's an hour out of the week? And I was thinking what a pretty quilt this will be to hand quilt.

More 'players' means more pictures... :o

My # 4 block

Jane Quilter 05-17-2017 06:40 AM

oh, so nice, BattleAx. Where did you get that neutral? The red flower is lovely in this block.

sewbizgirl 05-17-2017 11:05 AM

Very pretty, Battle Ax! I, too, admire the neutral.

sewbizgirl 05-17-2017 11:08 AM

I decided not to fix my 'boo boo' in my Constellation block, and keep it as a humility block. My husband loved that idea!

I don't think anyone would have noticed if you hadn't pointed it out. When it is all put together it will be even less noticeable. It's a beautiful block and points matched nicely. I wouldn't change it either.

sewbizgirl 05-17-2017 07:38 PM

Thank you lawsonmugs. I have collected several old quilts from flea markets over the years, and they all have stuff like that going on in them. We all need to stay humble! :D

DottyD 05-17-2017 11:18 PM

Lovely block 4 sewbizgirl - what mistake !!! Brenda Papadakis (who wrote the Dear Jane book ) said - "if you can't see a problem when riding by on a galloping horse - don't worry about it !!
Some really pretty blocks coming along - I have so much Christmas fabrics in my stash I decided to use it here. Civil War fabric is not so easy to find here in the UK and what there is can be expensive.

Jane Quilter 05-17-2017 11:22 PM

well DottyD, it will make a great Christmas quilt! I love it so far.

sewbizgirl 05-18-2017 03:10 AM

So do I... going to be such a pretty Christmas quilt!

givio 05-18-2017 08:00 PM

It will be unique and pretty in Christmas fabrics. I love red and green together. It's classic color combination for quilts and used a lot for them historically.
Here's my block for the week!

sewbizgirl 05-18-2017 08:28 PM

Love it, Givio... I like the burgs you subbed for the browns.

Teddybear Lady 05-18-2017 08:35 PM

I'm not making these blocks but I love seeing what you all are doing. They look great!

givio 05-18-2017 08:40 PM

Well, it looks like the sashing is 2" finished, do you think so? These first four blocks are all in a row on the pattern, and I'm tempted to add the sashing and sew them together. Anyone else of like mind?? I have a lot of gray, and not much cream/beige/neutral, so I'm going to use gray for sashes.

DottyD 05-19-2017 12:15 AM

Lovely block Givio - and thank you so much for comments re my Christmas fabrics !

You're right, they are all in one row... which makes me wonder if our next block will be the 5th block in that row. In that case, you could do the setting triangles, too! The sashing looks like 2" but if you want to confirm and work ahead, Debbie is so helpful. I'm sure she would tell you.

I love these blocks. We are going to have such pretty quilts!

Jordan 05-19-2017 07:12 AM

I have different colors for background-some light cream and some a tan. Is this going to look ok do you all think? I just love doing these blocks. I am picking out fabrics for #4 and had to ask a friend to bring some CW fabrics over to see if she has any better matches than I do. What a great friend!

Make sure each block looks pretty as a single block.......when they are all sashed together they will look great....especially if they are all the same genre....like civil war, christmas, 30's, modern, etc. They don't have to match block to block. IMO Jane Q

That's fine. I'm doing mine all different, too-- on purpose! :D

joe'smom 05-20-2017 07:53 AM

It's such a treat to see all of these beautiful blocks. These Civil War fabrics are a textural delight. I'm going to start buying more CW fabrics!

Block 4-Constellation

This block definitely has an overall darker color to it but I found the darker neutral and wanted to use it. :)
