I'm going to try to enter something using my skill builder quest. I am cornfused about one of the rules though.
Your entry - MUST NOT HAVE BEEN SHOWN ANYWHERE BEFORE!!!!!!!! Does this mean shown by me personally as in online or as in a show? I've never shown anything in a show and only have 2 blocks uploaded anywhere.

I want to enter. Maybe this will inspire me to make a messenger bag that will also hold my tablet.

it just means it can't be posted online anywhere or shown to anyone who is going to vote. so don't show it to your friends til after the vote. If you are showing it to a guild and noone there is a member here then that's not a conflict and you can show it there. We just want to keep this anonymous so it is a fair vote. If you posted it on FB for example then others would know it was yours and be influenced when they vote. We want to vote on them by what they look like and what they deserve. I want to avoid anyone voting for friends instead of voting for the best one.

I am looking forward to seeing all the entries!!! I am hoping to have lots more entries this month!

So is a themed approach or an item type contest better? Or some of each?

I've never entered any of the challenges before but will do so this time... I think a specific description is probably what works for me!

I think the item or theme works best for me cause the most of the thinking is already done. It still give me a bit to decide concerning the actual block, style and colors. This is my first contest and I'm really having fun and forcing myself to learn new techniques.

For me, specific items work best. Always have so many things going on I prefer having the item pinned down so I only have to concentrate on design. Personally I find it difficult to be fair in judging when you offer a purse, wall hanging and mug rug. Just my opinion.

I like the idea of giving us a particular design detail (like hearts) and leaving the project item up to us. Really made me think. I decided to step outside my comfort zone.

Back in the mid-late '90s, I made a quilt for my sister. The quilt was in a magazine with a pattern and a picture. I still have some fabric left and was thinking of doing one of the blocks as a wall hanging.
Do I post the pattern name given in the magazine? I don't remember the magazine name but I can find it if necessary.
I don't want to infringe on copyright.

When you send your pics to Patrice include the info for the pattern with your entry then Patrice can do what she thinks is best with it.

I have my top done but not the back as of yet. Too many electrical issues with a melted disconnect box. I'll try to get as much as I can and then enter it as is. I still have 5 hours and 45 minutes to get the back of my small project made.

I think I did but I had to totally redo my plans. This should serve as a notice to everyone in older homes. Check your disconnect boxes for any signs of damage. In my case my home was spares because I have a separate disconnect before the power lines go into my breaker panel. If it had been directly to the panel box my house would have more than likely burned to the ground. All the cold weather has placed extra strain on the main disconnect with the demands for heat in a total electric house.
