Half and half cream mix vinegar to thicken and either add sugar to sweeten or sweet n low. This works for our family. I shred cabbage rather than buying pre-packaged because I usually ended up with spoiled ones.lol

I make it a 1/4 head at a time, with grated carrot and chopped onion, and use red wine vinegar because it is what I have.

I do the same thing except I grate an apple into the mixture. That’s how my mother did.
