Yes, and the cake mix is actually called butter pecan.

My 11 year old step daughter and I just made these with yellow cake mix and 1/2 sprinkles and 1/2 pink sugar and they taste just like the pink and white frosted animal crackers. Except they don't have the weird waxy coating.
She has never had one of those cookies because she has a nut allergy so it was awesome to get to share them with her. Now she doesn't feel like she is missing out so much!
So thank you very much for sharing this recipe! Can't wait to keep trying more combinations.

Yes. butter pecan cake mix is the best for cookies! I use whatever I have to add - cranberries, raisins, white chocolate chips...

I've been making a version of these for years. My favorites are chocolate with white chocolate chips, or mint chips , or peanut butter chips. OK, I guess chocolate with anything!
