I hate turnips. My father knew this & would pile my plate full of mashed turnips. I refused to eat them. I'd sit & stare at them until bedtime. To this day I refuse to have any turnips in my house.

I had no idea what a turnip was or how it tasted, until I left home. During the depression, turnips were one of the few things that thrived on my maternal grandparents' farm. My mother swore she would never eat another one, so....none planted in my childhood garden, ever!!

I've eaten them and don't mind them actually. Although I probably need a few good recipes. I'll be watching this thread. New (to me) veggie ideas are always welcome.

I don't blame you for not wanting a turnip ever again. That was pure jerk mean.

I love turnips. My Mom used to make a dish with turnips, potatoes ,carrots, and onions- baked- it was delicious! I forgot how she seasoned it but it was really good. My youngest son loves them raw!

I agree to mash them with carrots and/or potatoes. Rutabagas too.
